New to VA Nursing
Hello rhonda and athena,I have been working at visn3 for about 3 months and I dont like it at all,I was originall hired for med-surg and was placed in LTC,I do no clinical work besides placing foleys, big deal.I did not go to school to be a RN to lose my skills.I have asked for a transfer but was told I needed to wait a year.I am so upset about it.I left a great job because I thought this was going to be a better one and its not.Plus, the benefits are so expensive and not that good.

Military/VA RN's - Please post experiences for Students
I was wondering if any VA RN's who are currently employed can give me any information about the hiring process. What happened was I had faxed my resume to my local VA hospital back in 2/06,they had called me in for a interview 7/6/06,I went and met with the nurse manager and we interviewed, she said she had a few interviews left, but I would be hearing from someone after the interview process was over, she dais sometimes it takes 6 months.A few days ago I decided to call the staffing coordinator whose number the manager had given me,he stated the nurse manager was brining him tha packets that evening then they are sent to personnel,Well this morning he had called me and said what he now needs is for me to fax him 2 professional who I have worked with and he gave me the number,I was shocked he had called, could this mean I am on my way to employment with the VA?What comes after this point?Any information would be gladly appreciated as I am very excited, with the VA do they actually offer you a position?Thank You for your response.

Helene fuld entrance exam nyc
Hello, the test was just very basic math, some word problems, some division things like that.there is also reading comprehension questions. The test is not very hard at all,in the reading comprehension read the question first then go to the paragraph,it is easier that way,you should try to answer all the questions.I just graduated from the school in april,it was quite hard, but just study, study, study. If you need any help just ask me.

LPN to RN Program?
To be honest with you I had been a LPN for about 5 years before getting my RN,I dont think they are that serious about the amount of time you have been a LPN,they may say so on the phone, but in person its a different story,If I were you I would finish your LPN and then go there with your grades,if you graduate with an overall 85 or so average I dont think it will be a problem, thay mainly look at what kind of person you are, work ethic things like that, remember they are a private college and basically make their own rules, unlike your local community colleges. When your done with school look into it and sit for the admissions test, its basically basic math and reading comp. Good Luck

LPN to RN Program?
I'm sorry, the papers I had said nothing about being a LPN for a year, you should call them anyway, trust me,they're not that set on half of their rules. They have 4 different sections for the nursing, usually it is offered either in the am,or the pm,I went at night from like 5-9 tues, and thurs and did clinical on saturday from 8-3,it's all different though. They have clinicals also on tues or thurs, the saturdays were better for me with traffic.Well I hope you find somewhere to go,you should call the school anyway, they may very well tell you to fill out the application.Good Luck

LPN to RN Program?
I went to Helene and just graduated in april,It is a year long program, you have to take an entrance test,I didnt find the test to be very difficult,I dont believe you have to be a LPN for a year,I looked in the brochures I had for the school and it said nothing about that. You should try it,I traveled their daily from Long Island.Well good luck

Which Saunders book is better?
Just stick with the saunders book you have,I had brought all of them and the questions etc are basically all the same, just make sure you know the rationales for each answer, why something is wrong or right etc.
