Any LPNs out there that can't pass the RN exam?

Just curious if there are any LPN's out there (besides me) that are having problems passing the RN exam? I love my job as an LPN, however, I graduated from nursing school (with a 3.9 gpa, I might add) and can't pass the NCLEX. I have severe anxiety over this darn test and was just hoping I could find someone out there who is in my shoes!

i am in the same situation as i also have taken the nclex 4 times and have not passed, plse anyone who may have any type of insight on cracking the test plse let me knw, although this site has been very uplifting with all the kind words of encouragement, like those before me i am just soooo frustrated and don't even knw where to begin to start to study.....

have you tried using linda lacharity book for the nclex? it was very helpful for my nclex-rn.

i took the nclex-pn in 2008 and the nclex-rn the 4th of this month and i can honestly say that me being an lpn helped me tremendously on my nclex-rn. for example, i knew all the medication questions i got (9 q's i think) on my nclex-rn because i give all those meds daily to my patients.

do you have exam anxiety? maybe you can ask your primary doc for a rx xanax?

good luck to all of you who are trying to pass the nclex-rn. you can do this! you passed the nclex-pn so this one you can too! don't lose hope!

Hi Angel,

thx for the response no i haven't tried that source but will def look into it, and yes i think i do have test anxiety but was afraid to take a xanax befor taking the exam for fear of being too relaxed, was considering trying hypnosis to see if maybe that might be an answer...thx for the kind words of encouragement, i want ot get past this so i can move on, thx for the support.

you're welcome. my exam was at 8am and i took my xanax 0.5 mg at 12am the night before so i could sleep. i was very relaxed during the exam, which was a good thing. finished 75 qs in 60 mins. so xanax definitely help. i took the xanax so i could sleep not for test anxiety though (i don't think i have one :D )

here is the lacharity book: amazon.com: prioritization, delegation, and assignment: practice exercises for the nclex examination (9780323065702): linda lacharity phd rn, candice k. kumagai rn msn, barbara bartz rn mn ccrn: books

good luck,

I just took the NCLEX-PN and was there for 4 hours, had 168 questions. It was the most horrible exam of my life. But one thing that I took away from that test. You have to know your facts and if you don't know the information that they are asking it's because you don't know to apply the content that you know. I hate to hear all the bad stories. You can look at it as failure or you can ask yourself, "what was it that threw me?" Seems like you need more help with test taking strategies. Apparently you know the content because you graduated nursing school. You just sound like you need to know how to apply it. The one thing that you have to remember for NCLEX... The ONLY information you have on that question is all the information you need to decode what the question is asking. Look at what the question is asking. Each word. Don't get in a hurry. Don't worry about how much time you have. Think critically but don't over think it. Go with your FIRST instinct. Keep doing it. I believe that you can do it. I recommend getting the Kaplan book and read it more than once. Master it, and then get you a Saunders book and just do questions. Questions questions questions. You have to get in that frame of thinking. Another tip is to go online for sample nclex test questions. That way, when you actually take it you will be more used to "getting in the zone." I have much respect for the NCLEX and I know that when I take my RN that it's going to be a beast! Keep going. Don't let the NCLEX scare you away from doing what you really want to do in life. :-)

Yes, I am in the same boat! Busy with small kids and feel like a failure! It frustrates me so much that the darn NCLEX RN is the only thing keeping me from being an RN. Have been an LPN for 11 years but can't seem to pass that test. Best of luck!
