Any of you LPNs bridging to RN in your very late 40s

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Just curious to know how many older LPNs are making the bridge to RNs and do they feel it will be worth their while from a employment perspective. I think it will take me approximately 5 years part-time as I work full-time I worry that it might not be beneficial to leave a full-time LPN job to start over as a RN when I finish. Anyone share my thoughts? The program definately is not easy, I find I am tired when I come home from work , I know blah blah blah.

carz,

I am in my middle 40's and am going back. I have always wanted my RN, but family and kids have kept me from getting it done. Now that my two children are in college, I finally have time to finish. It is not easy, but the benefits outweigh the negatives. It also makes my kiddos work harder in their classes

:-) They don't want to be shown up by their mom.....

I received my LVN at 50, now working on my BSN! Goof for us! Never to old! Just Breathe, I am sure you did great!

Never to Old....I am 44 yrs old..been a LPN for 4 yrs and just starting my prereqs in Jan for a LPN to RN bridge..if all goes well should be done in about 2 yrs!!! Good luck!!!

I am 45, and yes I have been doing it little by little part time, but as I see it, my goal is to become an RN no matter what, so I'm finishing up through Excelsior because I work full time but let me tell you, as long as I'm one step and once class closer to achieving my goals, I will never doubt that I am doing the right thing. Keep persisting..... and keep your eyes on the prize.. Good Luck

i am not bridging as we dont have that option..been a LPN for 4 yrs, took all my pre and co reqs for the ADN program which I am in now...i am 50....

i could of tested out of NURSING 1,but i didnt want to miss anything on the pharm and care plans....

its been fun, stressfull but worth it!

I'm on my iPhone, so hopefully there won't be too many typos:-) I am 44 (will be 45 in Jan) and I start my bridge program in January. With any luck, I will have my BSN in just a hair over 2 years from my start. I will be 47 when I start my MSN. It's never to late:-)

I was 50 when I graduated LPN and an 54 now and graduate in December with RN, BSN.

I am 41 and about to start the LPN to RN Bridge program. It will take 3 semesters starting this January. I am nervous and excited!! Then to BSN....

Onward and Upward. As I tell my 15 year old daughter, NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER GIVE IN!

The only thing I would take into consideration is the years you will work vs the amount of loans you will have to take out. But now people are having to work older than ever so that may be a moot point anymore.

I am 44 and have been an LPN for 22 years and Spring 2013 I started my LPN to RN bridge pre-reqs while working full time....I took online classes on the ones I could and classroom for the harder classes. I am an A student and have now applied to the AVS program at Valencia at the age of 44. IT IS NEVER TO LATE! For me I have always wanted to go for my RN but A. couldn't afford it. B. Had to work full time. C. Never had any support from the man in my life. Then I met my boyfriend (now husband ) who said "Why don't you go back for your RN if that's what you want?" And it was then that I looked into it and realized I could get pell grants because I was a single mom and could take my classes online and continue working. So now I finished all my pre-reqs, took the summer off to get married and took my TEAS and now have officially applied to the AVS program at Valencia....When people asked me how do you do it...I thought about it this way...The days of your life are going to come and go whether I do anything or not so why not not waste the days you have and FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!! YOU only live once!! If your dream has always been to be an RN and you love the field of Nursing then BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE and since I do LOVE my job and helping those who need it then I am gonna go for it!! Don't let anyone take the wind out of your sails!! You can do it!!
