Hi
Are there any certified Life care planners amongst you all? I am about 1/2 way through my training and will be sitting for the certifiction exam hopefully this summer. I was jsut wondering how the test is..the material was boring to begin with but know I am getting into Spinal Injuries, Burns and traumatic birth injuries and it is getting more interesting. Just curious what the exam is like?? Once I am done with that I will tackle the CCM..one thing at a time:) Erin

I'm a CLNC also and do Home Care too. I am thinking about Life Care Planning to expand so as to be able to quit Home Care. What is CCM you are talking about? and what time frame of study are you talking about? Thanks.
CCM is Certified Case Manager..I currently do workers compensation case management so that will be the next certification to "tackle". Eventually I am thinking I would like to do independent workers comp cm, Life care planning and legal nursing..they all compliment one another to a certain extent. The LCP class I am going through is through Kaplan. It is self paced but I figure with everything i have going it will take me a year. Erin

Please, what is Life Care Planning:confused:
A life care planners basically write document which projects an individuals future needs..traumatic brain injuries, traumatic birth injuries, spinal cord injuries, burns are examples of types of pts that may need a life care plan. Life care planners are hired by attys or ins companies..The life care planner workes with the pt, family and medical professionals to project what is going to be required for the individual to live their lives..this is not only medical equip, Dr visits, furture surgeries but also things like environmental changes, wheel chairs, private nurses, long term care..Once the life care planner writes the document it is sent to an economist that projects future costs..Life care plans are used in litigation for both defense and plantiff also by ins cos to settle a claim. The life care planner frequently has to be deposed to defend the life care plan. ..I am just learning what a HUGE document this is...I am currently in spinal cord injuries and even things like artificial insemination are taken into account. This is the short version but gives you a general idea..:) Erin
Nurses, MDs, rehab professionals can all be LCPs..some practice without the certification but as I am finding there is so much to learn, I am glad I didn't go that route and I will be really glad the first time I am deposed I am sure...

Hi Erin,
I am a LCPer and am taking the CNLCP exam in April. I have W/C CM experience too, and have been a LCPer for about 1 1/2 years. I know someone who just took the CLCP exam (she passed) and she said it was more difficult than the CCM exam. When will you sit for the CLCP exam?
Kim
Hi Kim
I plan to, although it will probably be awhile. I am a little over half way through my classes and I don't anticipate completion until summer since I am so busy doing comp and LNCing. I also have heard that the test is difficult!! Is there any sort of study guide to use while studying for the exam. The books that I am using for my classes are Gigantic..can't imagine reviewing them!! Do you enjoy doing LCPs?? Do you get much work?
Thanks Erin
