Any jobs in the Ada area?

Published

Anyone work near Ada? How is the job market? Are they hiring new nurses. I have 5 months left in my RN program out in New Mexico then looking into moving closer to my parents. Internet searches keep brining up the same hospitals so any suggestions on where too look would be great. You can only find so much on the Internet before you need to talk to someone who knows the area.

It is very possible that you might have to commute north to the OKC metro area or south to Ardmore to be exposed to a wider variety of job opportunities.

Do you know what the job market is like out there. Here in Albuquerque their is no nurse shortage at the moment in fact their is a surplus. I work for a hospital now and that only gives me a slight advantage. I was told that it's not that they don't hire new nurses but when you have 30 applicants, for every job you post, you cant justify passing up someone with experience vs someone who has very little. I'm just wondering if OK is the same way. I email the board of nursing also to find out about getting an OK nursing license when the time comes and no response yet. Glad I'm starting early.

There's a hospital in Pauls Valley that might be within commuting distance of Ada.

The job market in the major metro areas of Oklahoma has tightened up over the past couple of years, and the pay rates have stagnated. However, the situation might be better in the small towns that do not have any nursing schools in or near the city limits. Good luck to you!

Ada has a BSN nursing program with approx 60 RN's graduating each year (East Central University). You will be competing with the majority of them for a job in the area. However there are two hospitals in Ada: Vally View Regional Hospital and Carl Albert Indian Hospital. The Indian hospital is brand new and really large for the area. They are still looking for new nurses. It is a great place to work with good benefits. New grads are still finding jobs in Oklahoma relatively easily. Good luck to you.

The new Chickasaw hospital is called Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, they changed the name when they moved into the new facility. They say that they will be hiring more staff but I rarely see openings posted. I know that they use agency nurses in their ED. The website for their emplopyment openings is http://www.chickasaw.net/ scroll to the bottom and click on careers. If you are interested in LTC there are VA facilities in Sulphur and Ardmore. Good luck.

Specializes in Hospital.

There is not Nursing shortage in the Ardmore area, There are jobs in Oklahoma city or Lawton, I know there are some there too. Mercy hospital in Ardmore is a joke and the Human Resources department is the worst, I have heard they have no communication between you and the supervisors that actually do the hiring so good luck getting a job there. Bi pass the Human resources department and contact the supervisors directly and you will have better chance on getting hired.

The dept of corrections is hiring.

Mercy Hospital in Ardmore. 1 interview= 4 job offers. No experience as a nurse. Don't believe all bad news applies to everyone or vice versa.
