Hi I'm going to apply for spring admission to Ivy Tech Gary and Valpo. My question is do all the prereq's need to be completed before I apply? The website says they have to be done before the start of the program, but someone from the nursing dept. said they have to be done by Sept. 1 (app deadline for spring admission). I just don't want to over do it this summer by taking A&P 1 and 2. Those are the only prereq's I need and would like to take 1 this summer and 2 in the fall. Can anyone help me out?

Yes, I believe all prereq's have to be completed before the application deadline. You might want to check with the nursing advisor at the campus you want to apply to. At the Nursing Information meeting I attended, they stressed that they are a bit different at each campus with that type of thing.
Best wishes!

Contact the Dean of Nursing at Valparaiso University! I am sure all pre reqs need to be completed; it actually is to your benefit because it makes for an easier load during once you have started the program. You can find the information you are looking for on the website under Nursing; I am sure if you leave a message or drop an email, someone will return your call promptly.
Good Luck, J

I am not a Valpo student yet but I am transfer over to this school in sping 2008. If you go with Valpo do not take any science course at Ivy tech the dean will not take your credits. If you are going to apply to this school you schould put in your application now for the Fall of 2008.

I am applying for the fall semester at Valpo an d the way I undersatnd it is;The four prereq's (A & P 1-2, Eng. Comp, Intro to Psych.) have to be completed prior to the application deadline for the letter grades to be assigned the point values they use to select the students who are admitted. April 1 deadline for the fall semester. Acceptance letters go out end of MAY.
I am a second semester RN student at Ivy Tech Valpo. This is absolutely correct. This is how they determine your placement.
Good luck to you!
