Any input on DFW hospitals?

Hello,

I am in my second semester of nursing school and wanting to work as a patient care tech or extern in a hospital while in school. I live in the North Dallas area, but would be willing to make the drive to a downtown hospital. Since I am from Austin and have only lived here the past two years, I do not know much about different hospitals, including reputation, work conditions, pay, etc.. Can anyone give me a quick run down review on some hospitals? The hospitals I have called in my area like Plano, Lewisville, McKinney don't have the extern program or if they do, they want two semesters of clinical experience, which I only have one so far. Some of the names I have come across are UTSouthwestern, Parkland, Methodist, Presby, HCA facilities..... any input would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Jill, try any Texas Health Resources hospital - they offer a nurse extern program. Their website is http://www.texashealth.org. I hope this helps, and Good Luck with your search!

Richardson Regional Medical Center has externs, also.
