This board is great. Thank you to everyone for sharing information. It helps all who are in process or just thinking of this course in life. I have questions of my own.
My application is in to UTC and I've read all there is to read. I eventually plan on the campus visit, but wondered if anyone had any firsthand accounts of the interview process there.
Also, if there are any current or former UTC students out there, I would appreciate hearing about your class experience (How many days a week, overall "feeling", etc...). I plan on commuting.
Thanks in advance.

hello,
it can be difficult to land an icu job at emory (especially with 0 experience). difficult areas include cvicu and sicu. they prefer people with one year of nursing under their belt before they come into the icu. i was just lucky. i work the night shift and love it. it's a good group with a lot of expereince. if something is going on with your patient then there are 5 nurses at your door to provide assistance. we do our jobs well but we do not take ourselves too seriously. the acuity level is very high. i'm not crazy about benefits or pay but you do have the emory name which might help you later if the name translates well with another institution. a co-worker of mine came to us from vanderbilt and she told me that the icu at vanderbilt was nicer, but starting pay was also lower. pick your poison. emory is all i know so i have nothing else to compare it to. i'm studying for my ccrn which is a big deal in the icus. they love that certification and emory is on the magnet journey so being ccrn certified could help. there are many prn opportunities in atlanta. i love the city and will miss this place when i leave for anesthesia school (if i can get in somewhere).
hope this helps
I have my CCRN, as of June of this year (took the test within a month of moving the GA). I have 2 years in SICU/MICU/NICU at the trauma center in Memphis, so Im not a newbie. I did mention this in my cover letter aas well. I would really like to work there if all goes well. Been out of work for two months and ready now that I finally have my GA nursing lic. Hope to be seeing you around. Seems like you have a great shift with wonderful nurses.

Atlantanurse: UT CHAT is not a DNP program from what I know. UT Memphis is for sure. There are limited ICU positions at Emory according to the online site. If you dont mind me asking, what shift do you work? and how is the pay and benefits. Thanks for the reply.
