ANY info on Central Arizona College NUrsing Program?

Published

I am interested in applying for Central Arizona College Nursing Program... Does anyone have ANY info at all about the school or program? The deadline is april 5th which is just a few days away and it says you must attend a nursing program seminar as a prerequisite for applying but the next available time for the seminar is 2 hours before the deadline to turn in the actual application! I am wondering if anyone else is wanting to apply too but is worried there might not be enough time : / Any comments are welcome! THANK YOU!:D

I believe they require additional pre-reqs and I think you have to have your CNA certification as well. There are posts somewhere in here about their program. Just do a quick search and you should be able to find more info. I think the info is also posted on their website. That's where I got it before, I just don't remember all the details. I do remember that you get extra points if you are a Pinal County resident. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

They require a CNA. Its points based. Pinal county resident gets extra points. If you have all of their pre and co reqs done you get more points. You need to take the HESI A2 I think its 80's on Math and Reading Vocab and 70 on everything else minimum- of course you won't get high enough points if you do that.

Oh and you get more points based on the grades you got in the classes as well.

Pretty much those that are getting in have all the pre/co reqs done ( You need Nutrition, PE and Soc ) I think in addition to the rest that are required for the Maricopa ones.

Oh you need all the medical info in advance too, shot records & physical.

I originally applied to UA for their nursing program, but I got denied after the interview. Found out that CAC has extended their deadline application on March 31, 2010, just 6 days before the deadline without a HESI, and an information seminar.

Finished all of my other class projects on April 1. Went to CAC on April 2 to ask if I could still submit my application if I attended the information seminar the next day after the deadline and she said yes. Studied until my eyes fell off from April 2-4 for the HESI. I took the test on 12 noon on April 5, passed, and submitted all of my files at around 3 PM. The deadline is on 4 PM. Attended the nursing information seminar the next day.

Got accepted at around the second or third week of April. So, are you worried that you don't have enough time?

hi audqyee, i saw that you mentioned that you applied at the UA... are you from tucson? i am from tucson and I'm curious if traveling from tucson to CAC would be worth it? what has been your experience there since it has been a couple years now i wonder if you are a nurse already>

Wow, that post has been so long now. Hi Edna, I'm from Casa Grande so it was not a long commute at all for me. Regarding CAC's curriculum, it has been excellent. I learned alot and if I had a choice, I would definitely go with CAC again if I'm going to have an ADN again. Of course, I always prefer a BSN, just getting it done now and Banner prefering BSN grads nowadays.

I'm already practicing for about 2 years now in Cardiac tele. I just moved as well from Arizona to California and I'm very happy at where I am at now.

Hi audqyee,

sorry for replying to this a year late. I am hoping you still check this, i have other questions if you dont mind me asking since i am considering CAC.

Where did you do your clinicals?

i plan on staying in Tucson do they help out in placement for clinicals such as keeping me here in Tucson?
