Any ideas of nursing schools that will accept a 2.0 gpa :(

Published

I am on average an A and B student but because of some financial reasons i messed up really bad the second semester of college... My 3.25 dropped down to a 1.79.. After that semester i retook all the classes i failed but only raised it up to a 2.0.Ive completed all my core classes but its still low. Any ideas as to what to do next? I know if i got into the nursing program i would do great but i know it would be hard trying to convince the schools that merely because my gpa says otherwise. Please Help! thanks...

Each school is different as to what they require. Like another poster said some schools only look at your core classes for the program. When I applied to school I had a 3.25 overall GPA, but the nursing program only counted their pre and cor -reqs to determine the GPA that they looked at, so I choose to list my biology classes A's versus my chemistry classes C's so my GPA went up to 3.5 for my nursing school application.

Retake your classes if you can, one of my A&P grades was a C I took it over again for an A, bulk up on your science and math classes to raise the GPA.

where is your school, I cant find a school that Wont look at my overall gpa...its like FORGET your great prenursing gpa..its your overall that they keep looking at ..

ITs so frustrating..and there is no way for me to correct my gpa at this point.

I need a school that is just going to look at my NURSING pre reqs

What is your school?

thanks

What schools did you end up getting into? I'm getting ready to apply for next year and would love some insight! Congrats again that's amazing!!

Ive seen people enroll into a school that they really want to go to, take some classes to establish a great g.p.a there, then apply to the program. At this point they wont looking at your past overall g.p.a anymore but the g.p.a established at the school and your science gpa. This option of course is a little risky.

Hi, I know this post was from YEARS ago but I wanted to post on here for anyone still viewing this. I got accepted to nursing school this year with a GPA of 2.0 believe it or not. I attached a personal letter to my application discussing why I want to be nurse. I do believe that helped ALOT. I still cant believe I was able to pull that off especially with that GPA in one of the top nursing schools in my state.
