Hi. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any hospitals or other medical facilities have a loan repayment program. I work at Parkland and applied to NELRP, but I found out that enterring a residency program there for any acute care or ICU makes me or anyone ineligible for loan repayment through NELRP.
Thanks for responding!
Susan
Actually my loans are about $70k and with interest it's growing so it's going to be awhile before they are paid off. Private loans for me too. It's difficult to get OT because we sign up and then get cancelled for our regular shift. Your staffing bonus sounds great! I'll figure it out though, hopefully before I have to retire because I'm not so young! I wish you the best and I'll take your advice and try to let it go. Thanks!
Does anyone have any updated info on Parkland residents and their eligibility for the NELRP? I think that the only hospitals in DFW that are eligible for the NELRP are JPS & Parkland, but I would hate to go through a residency to find out that it has disqualified me! I called Parkland but did not get an answer.
I was thinking adult care..... I'm pretty sure that both Children's in Dallas and Cook in Ft. Worth qualify for NELRP. I will be calling Parkland this upcoming week to find out if they have changed anything about the residency program & NELRP qualification. I will post my findings.....
Thanks!

I understand.... I do feel for you. For me, the best thing was to just let it go (get over it) and work some OT (look for staffing bonus in SICU -- they always have staffing bonus available - it is $150 for a 12 hour shift - plus you get OT.).. and get my loans paid off asap. I had 40K to pay off from a private university, so look on the bright side -- you are way less than 40K.
Make no mistake, I am sure PHHS is well aware of the rules and regs....this is just not important to them. They talk a lot about improving morale, etc. but the important things that matter (like this).... just seem to move farther and farther to the back burners.
Good luck to you,
