Any good bay area hospitals?

Published

Good morning. I am an rn working in Hawaii. I have 2 years experience in med surg. We are planning to relocate to the bay area. I want to get into maybe peds, l and d, or post partum. But I am willing to conitnue to work in med surg. I have a few friends who work in the hospitals in the area, but I wanted to get more information from others. What can you guys tell me about hospitals in the area? I want to continue working 12 hour nights. I know there are some hospitals still with 8 hour shifts. I am wondering who pays the most. I am hoping this will be a good move for us. One of the reasons why we are moving back to California because I have heard pay and shift differentials are alot more in Ca than HI. Currently, I make about $41 for nights. I make pay rate this month. Shift differential is $2.50.

I am looking into Washington Hospital, Stanford Hospital, and Kaiser.

thanks for your help.

Hi Belle! I've worked at UCSF Children's Hospital for 2 years and Stanford for 1 year. The peds ICU @ UCSF pays pretty well, around $45 with about $3 weekend or night diff. They were also voted #4 on U.S. News Best Hospitals 2006 and there is a sweet bonus that comes with that! The benefits are also great! Stanford pays a little less, maybe a few $'s, but they were part of the top 10 best hospitals as well. I think Kaiser pays pretty well too, $40-$50, depending on what area you work. Not too sure about differentials. Good luck!
