I have a few questions for any Ga nurses that were on a 4 year consent order and completed it and off probation now. Tomorrow September 23, will be the day mine is supposed to end! Does it just end or do I have to send a letter to the board requesting to have it lifted off my license? And if I have to do that when or how long does it take to get a letter in the mail stating it's off? I was told by someone in the nursing board a while back that it would just end but the other day someone at the nursing board said I had to mail a letter requesting it. It doesn't say anywhere in my consent order about this. It just says 4 years from the time it was docketed which was on sept 23. I'm still going to call back and speak to a different disciplinary nurse consultant but it always takes forever to get in touch with them!! Thanks for any advice.

I would request an official order of completion from the program- for your records. I wouldn't want to get caught up in a bad place because I "missed" a call in becaus I thought I was done! I'm not from GA but that's what I would do. Remember what the board tells us: If it wasn't documented, it didn't happen
I'm happy to finally say I am off probation with the Ga Board Of Nursing! And my consent order or agreement did in fact end on sept 23, 2014, exactly 4 years from the time it was docketed. The second legal/disciplinary nurse consultant I spoke to on sept 23 told me that my consent agreement didn't state that I had to write a letter requesting the probation to be lifted my my license so she said mine just would end on that day. I followed my consent agreement to the T, all 4 years I was on it. She said the newer consent agreements after mine was docketed in 2010, actually state for the nurse to write a letter requesting the probation to be lifted from their licenses. I'm so happy I don't have to follow any of those rules from my C.A anymore! No more weekly aftercare meetings that I had to drive 35 minutes to get to with 2 kids and then becoming pregnant and still having to go to them, and feeling so embarrassed bc I was pregnant and I was scared other people at the meetings actually thought I was taking drugs while pregnant, which I never ever would have done while pregnant but to new people just coming into the program and not knowing me probably thought that or I was paranoid that they did think that! No more NA meetings that I hated going to in my town and no more going to clinics for drug screens, which many times I had to take my baby with me to do them which was so embarrassing and made me feel so ashamed. No more making sure I wrote my queDterky reports and also making sure my employers did one on me to every 3 months and making sure my after care counselor sent one too! There were several occasions where the nursing board would send me a letter stating they didn't receive a quarterly report from me or my employer or aftercare counselor and requesting them, but I always made sure they would get sent before the due dates so I knew they lost them those times. After a few days of me emailing or calling the nursing board, they would suddenly find the missing quarterly reports! My consent agreement is public unfortunately so I don't actually have to tell a perspective employer about it now but they will probably see it when verifying my license if I'm hired, so I think I'm going to continue to tell the nurse manager who does the interview and only tell her.not anyone in HR or nurse recruiter for a hospital.

Hey GaRN6, ADN, Congrats on finishing. I finished mine in August of 2014. I Consciously wrote the board and requested to get off my consent. Once they had a meeting they sent me a letter stating that I was free and clear and I was to show that letter to anyone that was concerned. Hope this helps and good luck to you. David
