I am seriously considering relocating. I am a single mom and would really like to find a safe, friendly community that is a good place to raise kids and where I could afford to keep feeding us the three meals a day we have gotten so used to.
Any suggestions of places to work or places to avoid?
thank you so much

Hi, hospice nurse from central Florida here. A few questions:
1) why are you moving?
2) where from?
3) are you looking in a particular region i.e Southern part of the state or Panhandle?
4) Just be aware - salaries here are LOW!
5) And, depending on where you're coming from, there's a definite culture shock! I find pain management here - even in hospice - leaves a lot to be desired!

Looking to the panhandle. From Tallahassee to Pensacola and almost any spot in between. Do you have any knowledge of hospices in those areas?
Yeah- I know Florida wages are stinky compared to other places. If only they would take the money that they are spending on committees to figure out how/why RE nursing shortage and just give nurses RAISES....duhr!

If any of you have negative information concerning a particular hospice for the OP, please reply in a PM rather than posting it publicly. Thank you!
yes, please do ...I am really hoping to hear some positive stuff though...it seems like there has to be some good news about the sunshine state :innerconf.

Hi there! I currently work for a Hospice in Florida I have been working there for almost year now. I love my job, I love the people I work with and The company is the best I have ever worked for. They really are great to their employees. Of course pay here is lower than most states.. and hospice pay is lower than your pay would be working in the hospital. But if you want a job where your surrounded by people who are like a a second family, and who really support you. I recommend working for the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast which is located in Pinellas county.

Do you still work in Hospice? I'm in midwest and want to move someplace warmer, but want to stay in hospice. I am CHPN with INPT and Triage exp, love what I do , going on 5 yrs in Hospice. Any input you may have in regards to good places to work, places to avoid, advice would be appreciated.
