Any Feedback on the Saunders Comprehensive Review 4th Ed?

Published

Does anybody have feedback? Thanks :)

Feedback in terms of what? Each book gets better and better if that is what you are asking.

As far as specifics, the book has only been out a few weeks, so there have not been any that have used it entirely for their preparation for the exam as of yet.

I only use the Saunder's Comprehensive Review for my programs and nothing else.

I ordered this book on Amazon and started using it yesterday. So far I am very impressed. I have other books (including Saunders) that just have questions, which are helpful, but I did also want something to "review" with. The review portions are in outline form and things of importance are labeled. Many examples are given and the practice questions provide good rationales. I plan to make a schedule this morning to do each section of the book, and do the exam at the back of the book 1-2 days prior to the nclex. Hopefully that will work for me!

This is the reason why I always prefer the Comprehensive Review, it also contains review material and is an excellent source even for students while still in school.

OK... the above responders did a good job explaining Saunders (I have the third edition). However, does anyone know if the 4th edition is worth purchasing if you already have the third edition?

Does the CD have more questions or the same number of questions? Do we have more control over how we set up study sessions and practice exams through the use of better filters?

I tried checking reviews through some of the sites that sell the book, but they are using some of the reviews from the older editions as reviews for this edition. PLUS, newer reviews do not discuss the difference between this edition compared with older editions. Thanks.

As long as you have the revised edition that came out in February, 2006; you should be just fine. If you have an earlier edition, I would probably update and get the new one.

I have the 3rd ed. and started your plan. Should I purchase the 4th ed. instead?

how do you know if it came out after Feb, 2006. I bought mine at a Barnes and Noble store in September of 2006. I just checked the copyright and it is 2005. It is the 3rd ed, full color reprint. Does that mean it came out after Feb 2006? I plan to take the NCLEX in June after graduating in May. I am in the last semester of ADN program. I like the 3rd ed. I've used it a lot for my first 3 semesters.

I have the new 4th edition, but I don't have any of the older ones, so it is hard to compare.

The CD has 4,214 questions in the pool that you can individualize. I'm not sure how many there were in the 3rd edition, but I do think someone said there were more in the 4th vs the 3rd.

I've just started using it as a student, and so far so good. I like it a lot, especially the rationales as to why the answer is the BEST answer.

I have the 3rd (revised edition) and fourth editions. In my opinion there are not that many differences in the books. I can't answer for the CD, but the questions in the chapters that I have compared are basically the same. I'm selling my 3rd edition to a classmate to recoup some $$. Also, check your local library, I JUST found out that mine has the 4th edition, you could check it out for yourself. Good luck.

I received the fourth edition last monday (A week ago) I bought it to start Suzzanes Plan... And I'm impressed at how detailed it is. I consider it so easy to understand that I'm getting over 80% in the tests after each chapter. I had the Second edition and this one I must admit is so much detailed and the ilustartions are much better. I had bought Delmars 5th edition and although i found it good, i must say that Saunders is worth the 43 bucks at amazon... so in a line.... GO FOR IT!

I have 3rd edition and 4th edition and I don't see any big difference. I like3rd edition CD better because it has big prints than 4th edition. I have been using 3rd edition and changed to 4th edition I checked questions from many chapters and find questions to be the same . If some questions in 3rd edition are not in 4th edition book you find the same questions on CD and vice-versa.If you have 3rd edition don't buy 4th edition. It is a waste of money
