Any Experience with Extended Stay of America?

Published

Hello. I am a first time traveler and looking for housing in Montgomery, AL. In my search for housing I came across an Extended Stay of America hotel and everything looks great about it. So of course I called their 1-800 number to see what the actual deal was with the rates and were they really that low as advertised. Of course they were not that low, however the overall price with taxes is still cheaper than some other places I "seen."

So now that I got that whole spiel out of the way, I am looking for any thoughts/opinions/feedback from anyone that has experience with these hotels.

Not the housing I would want, nor is it cheap compared to a good house share (my personal first choice generally). They tend to be noisy, full of people working at different hours (like you perhaps), many of them on teams talking in hallways.

I have often stayed at Extended Stay Americas for months on end while travel nursing and during the construction of a house. I personally love the places. They are clean and affordable. Fresh linens as often as I want, and the full size fridge is nice as well as the complete kitchenette. I never have had a problem with noise and I work nights. They are also pet friendly. They also allow you to book a month or more at a time and pay weekly with n o penalty for early checkout. The only thing I don't like is their kitchen supplies. That's why I have my own set for travel nursing. I also bring a convection type oven for things.

I stayed at a Homestead property when they were still called that for an extended period one time and enjoyed the suite as previously described. Paid cash every week, they would not allow me to pay for a month at a time as I recall. Asked for quiet area and they placed me at the rear of the property. They said they put their long term guests back there when informed the stay would be indefinite. I only wish my present standard ghetto apartment were so quiet, clean, and pleasant.
