Any dirt on HCC

Published

HI,

I am curious about the scoop on HCC's RN program. Has anyone graduated from their program or heard any good or bad info on them? I may be considering them if my appeal goes thru...I really want to attend USF but I would like to hurry up and get into a program so I can start working and be useful to society:). Any input is appreciated

I didn't want to say that, but since Teena mentioned Plant City campus, this is exactly what happened to me - I didn't know it's a common practice though. On orientation there were extra 10 or so people, who got into the program thru appeals, and we were told that Dale Mabry is full already and most likely we will be going to Plant City campus. I personally couldn't not afford it (Plant City is 50 miles away from me and their class schedule would change my whole life-style, like arranged day-care and night-time job), and I remember one girl was crying because of that - she was carpooling with somebody to get to Dale Mabry, and she had no idea, how is she going to attend Plant City. Luckily, some people didn't show up, and I got a spot at Dale Mabry, but you should be prepared to surprises.. Sorry..
Thanks for the heads up, luckily having to attend the plant city campus won't be that much of a problem.. but hopefully I can get a spot at Dale Mabry:)

Even if you end up at Plant City you can put your name on a waiting list and when a position opens up you can transfer to the DM campus. You alway lose people every semester so it wouldn't take that long to get over there. I personally like Plant City it is a smaller group and feel we are closer. I have friends at DM and they like it there too. It seems older students go to PC while younger ones at DM. This is my second career so I am not looking for "college" life..been there done that. A big problem with PC campus is there is no food on campus besides a few vending machines. Student government usually brings in free lunches quite a bit that DM doesn't always get. They are supposed to be opening a cafe this fall but we will see. We also get free coffee and hot cocoa that DM doesn't have. Classes always tend to fall over lunch hour so we go to the subway across the street a lot. And I live in New Tampa so it is a short drive on the Interstate for me and don't have to fight the traffic going into town. We have the same teachers at both campuses so the info doesn't change depending on which campus you are on.
