  1. Hello everyone, Recently I was put into the IPN program, I haven't even been told exactly what will take place. All I know is that I will be out of work for a period of time while going to meetings and seeing a counselor and so forth. My question to anyone out there that's either been in this situation or knows about it...how long can I expect to be out? 2-3 months??? I have not had this narcotics abuse issue for a long time and I have only been a RN for 10months. Any information would help ease this anxiety. I have learned a huge lesson already and am willing to do whatever it takes to get better again. Thanks, Athena77
  2. Okay, now I have a much better understanding about the process... Thanks so much, you've been very informative!
  3. Thanks alot for that information. That actually put it in perspective now. So you get your Master's and then certify in the specialty area if you wish? Which would be the pain management? Another quick question, can a CNS prescribe medicine?
  4. I am currently in a BSN program but eventually want to become a CNS. I am interested in pain management but all of the info I am getting on schools don't list pain management as a specialty area. I am wondering how would someone go about getting a specialty in this area. What is the usual course of action? Thanks alot
  5. Dream8 I am glad you started this thread. I was wondering the same thing. I have been so interested in becoming a nurse but recently was doubtful. I was getting an ugly picture of an aggressive cut-throat profession...where almost no one is on your side. I love medicine and helping people but dang! I'm glad to hear that it's not all like that.
  6. So when do you contact the hospitals about paying for nursing school? Do you go directly to the hospitals themselves? I will be starting nursing school in the spring and was wondering what else besides loans and school scholarships are there.. thanks
  7. Thanks for the heads up, luckily having to attend the plant city campus won't be that much of a problem.. but hopefully I can get a spot at Dale Mabry:)
  8. Great info. I wasn't aware that I may be attending the plant city campus. I live in the citrus park area so I wonder how far of a drive that will be. How do you like the campus over there? Well I will definitely be keeping in touch! Thanks
  9. So you are in your second year in the nursing program? How do you feel about the teaching and instructors? My appeal just went thru and it looks like I will be accepted for the spring so I am seriously considering accepting. Where are you doing your clinicals?
  10. I was also thinking of applying to UT for next fall, but I am sure I can't manage 26K per year. But I heard that they do give away alot of scholarships and financial aid..although I don't know how true that is. Well HCC is just scary sometimes!
  11. Well I definitely can identify with the problems plaguing HCC, that's why I was wondering if the RN program was considered the same...if they were any good at all. I may just suck it up for the sake of finishing a program, but if the word on their program isn't good then I won't. Well only time will tell what shall happen. Thanks
  12. HI, I am curious about the scoop on HCC's RN program. Has anyone graduated from their program or heard any good or bad info on them? I may be considering them if my appeal goes thru...I really want to attend USF but I would like to hurry up and get into a program so I can start working and be useful to society:). Any input is appreciated
  13. Well your situation sounds alot like mine. I guess I will just keep my fingers crossed that I get in for next fall , and if I still don't get in I will surely cry. As for HCC if this appeal that I am doing goes thru and they accept me I am probably going to turn them down. I've had nothing but problems with them. And as for your situation, have you looked into those nursing scholarships where they also pay you a monthly stipend? You first have to be accepted into a program and then you can apply. In case this can help you the website is http://bhpr.hrsa.gov/nursing/scholarship Thanks for the info! Tesia
  14. Hey guys, I was curious to know how long it took everyone else to get into a nursing program. I just applied to the spring program for USF, but I didn't get in, instead I am an alternate kinda far down on the list. I was missing 2 prereq's for their program but decided to try anyways. I also applied to HCC, but they screwed up my transcripts and said I was missing SYG 2000 when in fact I am NOT. I am getting that straightened out but USF is my first choice. I was just wondering what is the average wait time once you apply to getting in a program. Thanks a bunch, Tesia
  15. Wow, thanks for that info... You bet I'll be calling! That will be awesome if I get in...Even if I have to harass them....j/k lol :chuckle
