May I ask how long you were a nurse before you got the public health nurse position??

Our hospital has started Soarian, and its not bad(pretty easy to follow and understand)...however we've only been able to use it for placing orders and looking up results...we're supposed to be able to use it soon for documentation.....who knows when that will be, I wish soon---i'm sick of paper charting!

Hello all HH nurses! I'm contemplating a job with HH. I've interviewed & it has gone very well, it does seem like something I'd be interested in, but again never done it. I have some questions for you... do any of you work M-F? do you feel you balance your family/"you" time along with your job? do you have time for play? typically are the patients you see in the field are they happy to see you? welcome you into their homes? have any of you jumped right into HH and loved it? what was your nursing background before HH? were you a new grad or inexperienced RN (1-2 yrs experience or less)? what issues do you have with HH? The charting aspect--do you use a laptop from your company? Do you complete all your charting in the home? what type of car/vehicle do you use to get around? I currently work on a PCU/telemetry floor, very busy, (I'm on nights-and looking for a more normal schedule). I feel like I sleep way too much and I never have time for me, even though I work 3 nights/wk. I've only been an RN for 1 year, but looking for a new avenue of nursing. Please give any/all input. So are there any of you out there that passed with 265 questions?? I took mine today and ended up with all of the questions. I really don't know how I feel about it, I'm trying to stay confident and hope & pray that this is the last time I'll have to take this! Please keep me in your thoughts!!

Ok--so I'm in nursing school, im in my 3rd semester of clinical rotations and I haven't had many opportunities to hang IV bags and piggybacks until today and boy was I clueless...and of course my instructor doesn't seem like she's doing it right either... for example, here's what happened at clinical just the other day... i'm about to hang a piggyback, and I've only done this during lab at school, never in the clinical setting, so i'm nervous as hell...anyhow, she guides me through it, but kinda pushes me outta the way too because I guess she's in a hurry, whatever...but I saw her take the piggyback line, and unscrew the blue cap and it appeared to dump some medication into the trash, (I'm assuming she was doing this to get the air out--hello, don't we backflush??) OK, so basically all I need to hear is the simple dirty steps to go about hanging IV's and piggyback, (With the pump) any feedback would be much appreciated..!! thanks

Hello All-- Just wanted to get some input from you all. I have to give a teaching plan to 9th and 10th graders on the topic of uses of OTC's. I'm a first semester nursing student, this is part of my community based pediatric clinical. I'm looking to find out a way to involve the students, so they won't be bored, I want to keep them interested. I'm going to focus on treating the symptom, how to read labels, what ingredients do, common medications for specific symptoms. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance!

Hi all...i'm doing some recovery from my tonsillectomy, hating life right now and trying to finish a paper before tuesday. I'm in a college history class, and the paper topic question is how do culture and the law interact in the evolution of race today? Hi--I'm going to be having a tonsilectomy two days B4 thanksgiving, just wanted to know what my recovery will be like. I know that I won't be able to enjoy thanksgiving, but I wanted to do it sooner than later (over my xmas break). Anyhoo love to hear some of your feedback thanks. jennifer
