Hello pnsiny, congratulation and welcome to the family, I am going on to my second semester in the program. The material itself is not difficult, at least not as difficult as physiology. You will find the first semester very general on how nurses take care of patients. Now, that does not mean it is easy to get an A. Because they give you tons of information at once, it is semi- difficult to manage the time in terms of prioritizing what to focus on. How to study: read the book before the lecture and read the power point if you still have time; then, write notes on your power points (make sure to write down what the teacher says especially if it is not on the power point because trust me it will be on the exam). I will not lie to you if I tell you that you will be so shocked to the amount of information you need to know and retain in a short time period. But, your brain will adjust to it. There are no mean teachers as far as I know, they are all nice with high expectations.

Let me know if you have more questions, and welcome again

Hi pnsiny so happy for you! It's going to be a fun ride. I agree with te1990na 1st semester is general with material but they throw a lot of stuff at you. Just have to learn to use the calendar and do things as soon as you can don't wait till the night before. In the 1st semester read the the material before going to class it makes thing so much better and there's quizzes. Join CNSA it's your student nurses chapter it's a great way to network make and friends you also get discounts on things like EKG classes and ACLS certification. The best advice I can give is make friends ask questionsof those in the other semesters we are here to help. One last thing sign up for a mentor at family night then you have an instant connection with someone from a higher semester ready and willing to help you get adjusted.

Sorry I forgot it's not easy but you made it in just don't give up. The teachers are great just be prepared at all times and you'll be great

Hi,

I will be applying to the program this coming September, I have a 4.O GPA, and completed all my GE requirements, but a little nervous because I don't think I can come up with all 5 pts extra for life experiences. I might have only 28-29 points.

I was wondering how many points you guys have when you were accepted. And if you think I'll be able to get in. Thanks!!

I think you have a good chance with the 28-29 points. I have heard that this year, all students got in with no less than 30 points, but I am not sure how accurate this information is. Don't be nervous yet. I would advise you to take advantage in applying to every college in the fall, that way you guarantee a seat in one at least. Best of luck to you.

First, congratulation and welcome. I would suggest to come to family night. There should be a question and answer session where you can inquire about things.

Thanks everyone for the informations ! Ill be studying ahead of time . I had another question regarding the math competency are they hard ? Cuz they gave us a study guide and the teacher said it would be similar questions.

The questions are very similar if you can do the practice you should be fine on the competency. Just remember the numbers change but the idea is always the same. They never put anything on there they didn't show you. Good luck and so glad your here at Cypress

Thank u so much Giselle!

Your very welcome pnsiny
