Hey I wondering if there any Cleveland clinic nurses out here and how do you like it???
NursiePoo
Cleveland Clinic System pays $22.50 for new grads system wide. ($45,000 on a 40 hour week, 50 week year). I had this in print in a Cleveland Clinic brochure I got about a year ago. Plus, the recruiter at Marymount Hospital (in the Cleve Clinic system) where I'm a nurse tech told me the same number: $22.50.
Signing bonuses vary by hospital but Marymount has given me $10,000 while I'm still in school (directly in my pocket, not through my school's financial aid department) in order to work for them for two years once I graduate. If I choose to go elsewhere, I can pay them back $50/month but I have to pay the who $10,000 back in two years.
Anybody know the signing bonuses at UH?
I know that this is an old post but I came upon some info about this. I am a nursing student and I graduate from school in May. The clinic gave me $10,000 last summer in order to work for them for two years. I will be starting out at $25 an hour. Anybody out there who works there now or will be working there????
I am going to be in the ER. I am so excited because I get a four month orientation. WOW!! I know that I am really going to need it. I was disappointed with $25 an hour but after reading al these posts...I guess that I am lucky. I dont know if the extra money is cause its ER or what. Al I know is that I am moving up there in June and I am soooo excited!! I cannot wait to get out of this area!! :)
MANAGEMENT!!! (everybody look busy...)
Haha! So Not true- for proof read my other posts! I was actually going to fore warn all of you about the terrible ratios at CCF and the over utilization of LPN's and decided not to scare you all! You will find out soon enough especially if you sign on to Med-Surg!

I was just joking of course. But the "fulfill you contract" comment seemed a bit... I don't know... paternalistic? Anyway, what do you care if I fulfill my contract or walk away and pay them off? (I don't mean it the way it sounds in print. I'm not trying to be nasty). But really, it seemed like an odd comment for a disinterested party.
Anyway, any insight into the goings on of any organizations is certainly welcomed by me. Scaring anyone off isn't an issue. Information is the best antidote for bad decisions.
Myself, I'm now an RN and just completed my 12 week orientation a couple of weeks ago. I'm in ICU so ratios are not a really big issue although I've already had a situation where I've had three patients with no LPN help. One of them was rock stable though and waiting for a room so I guess it was no big deal.
So what evil lurks behind the walls of CCF. Inquiring minds want to know.
I would be happy to tell all in a private message! Are you in MICU or SICU?
If you did bother to read my other posts you will see that I am a NNOC/CNA Ohio member. We are pushing nurses to refuse an unsafe assignment like 3 patients in ICU. Some nurses in some hospitals are even being asked to take 4!!! An assignment you must absolutely refuse.
I recommend you read Adrianne Zurub's book : Notes from the Mothership, the naked invisibles.
Adrianne has been on the cardiac surgery team for 25 years and recently fired for writing her book!

Sure deal. PM me at your leisure.
I work in an elephant graveyard ICU at a regional CCF hospital. MICU I suppose but we see post-op stuff as well. Nothing fancy. We see post endoarterectomies, thoracotomies with chest tubes, that sort of thing. But like I said, mostly we see 80+ year olds with Hx of CHF, COPD, CAD, DM, PAD, CVA, etc., etc., ad nauseum. We see alot of mech vents as well. It's odd that we see a person younger than 70 unless it's due to medical issues related to chronic drug or ETOH abuse or either a really heavy person with respiratory issues. In other words, we're not a trauma center.
As far as the mothership lady, I had heard of her. Her book was all the buzz where I work for a day or two. I might get around to reading it. I read Nursing Against the Odds. Interesting. But I don't know if I'm into anything but voting with my feet if it comes to that. Right now, I'm pretty satisfied with my pay and working conditions. But what do I know? I'm a newbie.

Hi there,
I was told the new grad rate is 23.00 hour but that it varies by unit. I was also told about a new grad signing bonus of 10,000.00! Can anyone confirm this? I know the signing bonus at some other local hospitals is 5,000.00. Please advise.
Thanks,
B
