Hello, everyone. I started home health as a new nurse and it has been 11 months now! Very stressful at first, but with time management and extra time spent in training/feedback/self-education I would say I really respect home health nursing and would want to continue in addition to hospital experiences.
Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys what kind of CE courses are available for home health nurses. This is my first renewal period and my next renewal is next year in July. I know that we need to complete 20 hours until every renewal, however, we can't just take courses we want due to some limitations on experiences or different specialty.
I did get a brochure through mail about completing all 20 hours in a package, however, it wasn't that interesting for me to pay all at once. It would be better if courses I am taking are actually informative and helpful.
Does anybody have same concern or any plan to take some interesting CE courses for home health nursing?
I live in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. I would appreciate any comment including local opportunities.
Thank you all and have a great day!

I completed this one before returning to home health and the new world of OASIS and PPS. It was both an overview plus detail.
Our company is subscribed to Home Care Institute which has online tutorials but I can't use them in Ca.
Western Schools > ProductDetail
I also did this one or an earlier edition. It helps pull your existing wound care knowledge together.

I took a course for home health nursing one time and did not find it very helpful. It was based on a very basic text about hh nursing. I had learned more in my college course on the subject. Suggest you look for Western and see what they have. Otherwise, what I do each time, is to take courses on subject material that I encounter in hh: one time I took three different courses about peds, another time diabetes, another time cardiac problems. That is about the best you can do.
Thank you very much. I will try to be diligent as possible to complete these before next year comes. I was expecting to find something more in-person and interactive, but I guess some research is a must!
Another good site for CE courses is netce dot com.
You could attend an onsite wound care course or conference.
The home care institute tutorials are interactive in that's it audio and you take quizzes and do some computer interactive type stuff (I don't know what that's called or I'm not remembering)
