Any Books Recommended for bio A & P for self study before I take the course?

Published

Does anyone have any books or materialas that are recommended that I can buy to study and prepare myself for my biology classes? I am pursing nursing but am taking generals right now and wont be taking bio A&P until about a year from now. I would like to prepare myself to succeed in those classes so that I can earn good grades.l I have heard that A & P is challenging and a lot to remember. I just want to be prepared the best way I can.

Thanks.

there are youtube videos on many different medical lectures and such. Interesting and informative,

and gives another way of remembering. good luck

No, I just used the book and the instructors notes. I did buy this coloring book I don't know if all colleges carries it but there is a coloring book and it's useful; we didn't use the coloring book but I bought it anyways because other students told me it was useful and it was because I was able to test myself (especially for the bone test). The answers are in the back of the book.

There's a book called "Get ready for A&P"...I recommend it to everyone and you can find it pretty cheap on Amazon.com. Other than that, I would suggest a "dummies" book for A&P...something with a basic overview of information. That way, when you start class and start getting into the details, you'll already have a grasp on the big picture.

If you want to start on anatomy, you could memorize the bones as you will need to know all of them (most likely)..but save the bone features until you know which ones your teacher will focus on. As for muscles, go for the major ones, but don't get bogged down in attachments and such...again, wait and see what your instructor wants to focus on.

Good luck!

I have this book, and didn't find it all that helpful for A&P... but it was invaluable as a study guide for the TEAS!

Also there is a coloring book for A&P that helps you remember the systems, the body parts, etc. It can be found on Amazon. It's called the Anatomy Coloring Book, 3rd Edition and right now it starts at $5.99 on Amazon. Half of my class used this book and we all succeeded. The color coded systems made it easier to remember. HTH. :heartbeat

Im taking A&P next semester too, so Ive been going through Physiology Demystified by Dale Layman and I dont think I care much for it. I wish I would have bought the Dummies book.

I used an A&P coloring book way back in my first semester of college (I had to withdraw) and it helped me A LOT. Im definately going to use it again.
