I am curious to know if there are any black male nurses out there?? I personally only know of one!! So just wondering if any exist :) , and where? I am from NC, and don't see a lot of them around.

Come to Atlanta,there are plenty of them.
Funny you say that... I was just thinking about moving to Atlanta after nursing school. Maybe working for Emory HealthCare. Who knows...

I am not officially in school yet. I am applying for the spring. I am SO nervous. I am applying to several schools here in Charlotte. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Hey LB, I live in Fayetteville and I know about 3 black male nurses. In the nursing program at the CC I attend theres about 2 black male student nurese. So yes there are black male nurses.

Wondered for years about this demographic being underrepesented in our field. Thought it must be because of the association of male nurses and being gay. (From reading and talking to the black guys I've known over the years--being "punk" is more anathema in the black community than in the white-bread-suburbs where I grew up.)
Lately I've met several. A couple in Baltimore and now in TampaBayArea. All of them seem at ease and of high caliber. Maybe the 'pioneers' could be thought of as the 'cream of the crop'?

I believe the preferred term is: extortionist health care providers.
But I could be wrong.
LOL...I know, or maybe Atlanta??....:chuckle
