Hello everyone,

I haven't posted much but I'm currently in the process of applying for the new graduate nursing boards for the Air Force. I graduate with my bachelors of nursing in May!! I thought it would be nice to connect and see if anyone else is applying for the new graduate board selection. My recruiter told me they meet and make decisions in July. If I get it, I'll be heading to COT in October!

Currently, the recruiter has me picking out bases that I would like to be selected at for NTP. I'm also awaiting a medical exam date. If anyone has any input on great places to start out my nursing career, let me know!

Thanks!

I have already commissioned because my scroll was already approved from when I applied last year.

I know it all depends but how long did you have to wait last year for your scroll to be approved

Has anyone gotten the green light to commission yet? Better yet has anyone heard any new updates on the scroll being approved soon for those leaving in January and March.

I leave in January and commissioned Aug 25. This was my first time applying, but I'm not sure what you mean by "scroll"...

Scroll approval is made by congress. They have to approve your commission before you can swear in to be commissioned.

I swore in August 17th, leave October 5th. I'm also not sure what is meant by scroll. I know congress has to approve us for commissioning, so I guess my scroll was approved if I already swore in? I dont have my official orders yet though

It was letter (g) on the Letter of Acceptance we signed that is required to be appointed into the USAF:

Approved Reserve/Regular scroll at least 45 days prior to projected active duty start date.

To be honest I don't remember how long it took. I was an alternate last year so it never really came up.

Scroll approval time frame varies. Mine was submitted in February and still has not been approved. If you have commissioned already then your scroll has been approved. Until your scroll is approved you cannot commission. There are actually two scrolls that need to be approved a reserves and active, so far my reserves is all set but still pending the other one.

So I got a call yesterday and I am now select!!!! I will go to MEPS in the next two weeks and anticipate commission early November.

does anyone know about how much money we should have saved for COT? Monthly bills and cost for training?

Congratulations Musclesmascara! While I can't directly answer your question regarding $$ (each person will be different because of family situation, COT date/uniform requirements, etc.), there is a lot of good information found on this link:

Inbound COT Trainees and more specifically, here: Inbound COT Trainees

Thank you! That helps tremendously! How was MEPS?

For me, not bad (which was a bit surprising). I went through Montgomery MEPS. Where will you process?

I actually live in Montgomery! So it will be here as well! Do you live here? Maybe we can connect?
