Hello! Just found this site today while looking for schools. Seems like a really good place to ask for advice. I am looking to become an RN after recently getting laid off at my job at United Airlines:cry:. All I have is a high school diploma, so I have no idea what pre-req's I even need to start. I have looked online at Everest, Apollo, and Chamberlain. I have no idea what the tuition on any of these are since they all want you to come in to talk to them. That is a little hard with a 1 year old at home and a 6 year old to pick up from school. And I hate the pushiness of those people! So any advice would be great! Also, what is the general opinion of getting an LPN and doing the LPN-RN bridge later?
Good luck with your decisions. As to your LPN vs RN question, I would recommend you just go for your RN. Not many places hire LPNs anymore (nursing homes and the VA to name a couple). You'll have many more choices of employment after graduation.
I took my pre-reqs at the community college level, got my RN at the community college and am now in the process of getting my BSN at Grand Canyon.
Long story short, it's worth the work it will take to get through the pre-reqs and nursing school. You'll be glad you did.

Yeah you have to do what you can. I do not have a husband or kids so I did not have to worry about taking care of others. I am just glad I got into the Banner Program and do not have to worry about it anymore. Good luck with your schooling and to whom ever else who wants to know about online vs. in person. These were just my opinions on them.
