Hi there. I have been reading this website for about a week now and I just want to say that THIS IS A GREAT WEBSITE!!
But anywho, i have been meaning to ask, how similar are the Kaplan questions to the NCLEX?? I have been reading peoples post saying that Kaplan is very similar to the NCLEX. The NCLEX has a lot of priority questions in which Kaplan prepares you for. I have been taking Kaplan and the questions are REALLY REALLY hard!! I am scoring 50%-65% on the qbanks and test.
So, my real question is...Is Kaplan similar beacause they ask a lot of priority questions or because the questions are just as difficult????
Thank you

I don't think Kaplan is good because of the number of priority. I think it is the quality of the questions. Kaplan's questions are indeed very simular to the NCLEX because they are not just straight knowledge based questions, they force you to think. I recently took NCLEX and passed with 75 after using Kaplan. Wait don't think I am smart or anything, this was my 3rd time taking the test. I had used every study aid out there and Kaplan was the only one that worked for ME. One of the moderators on this site also developed a study plan using Saunders that everyone says is really go also. I tried Saunders and stopped, not because I was getting such great scores on the test but because when I really thought about it, I knew my content, what I didn't know was how to take the test, and that is where Kaplan helped. Don't think I used Kaplan for a long time either. I got Kaplan online review somewhere around June 9. I took my test on June 28. So in just three short weeks I had learn the ins and outs of that test. If you are getting 50-65 on your Qbank questions you should be fine. That doesn't mean stop doing questions. If you know you are weak in Physiological Care that focus on that section, or whatever section you feel weak in. My highest score on a Kaplan test was 63 and that was on test #5. Just believe in yourself, read the questions and you will be fine. Remember your decision tree from Kaplan and the NCLEX will simply be your Question Trainer #8.

Im in that same situation...I know my content, i just dont know how to use it. The questions in Kaplan just seem too hard with unusual rationals. Im just hoping that the NCLEX questions are not too difficult. Im also doing ncsbn reveiw, that is also helping me. :)

I Think That Whatever Review You Can Get Your Hands On Is A Good Thing. You Don't Need Expensive Reviews To Pass.....as Long As You Have Dedication In Doing 100 Questions A Day And Get A Book With Prioritizing, And Labs......everything Will Fall In Place.

i'm taking my nclex-pn on july 25th...i'm sooo scared ...i've been reading all the posts on this site, and most of them are about the nclex-rn, but i know they test on the same content, client needs, health promotion etc.. i just don't know what study guide to focus on, saunder's, meds-pub, nursing made incredibly easy, etc. i have been doing at least 100 questions a day, but is that enough?

i personally think the kaplan is very good..its is the closest you can get to how the 'hard' questions are on the nclex but at the same time..the easy questions on the nclex are some stuff i have seen in any other cd like sauders or nclex 3000...im glad a i took the kaplan rewiew class and i would recommend anyone to take it. Even if u dont take it ..get the question trainer Cd and practice the 7 tests...Good luck!

You all have me scared now. I didn't take Kaplan, don't have Kaplan book or CD. What I have been using is Meds Pub. review book and online practice questions (2600), took their review course. I also use the CD for Saunders and did all the quizzes (10 questions in each section) and did the areas I am weak on. I also just got done doing some questions from the CD that came with our Med/Surg. textbook (Brunner), it had NCLEX questions.
The main questions I have been doing are the ones on the Meds Pub. website. I take mine the 19th.

Well put! I'm in the same boat (that is, scoring consistently low-to-mid 60's on Q-Trainer (#5 today was a 63). But I feel that everything I'm doing with these questions is preparing me for "Question Trainer #8" :)
Still have a few hundred more QBank questions and two tests to take in the next eight days....

Where or how did you get the question practice CD from Kaplan?
I am a second timer tester. Failed first time because I run off time, and I very scared now. I want to get it right this time, but I am not sure what to use. Currently I am doing NCSBN questions, Saunders, and plan to do 3500 NCLEX Review.
crisgom: you can buy the book/cd set at Barnes & Noble; the CD has 180 questions (unless someone knows of a larger CD?). Or, you can buy a package online, where you get the Question Trainer tests we were talking about earlier, and/or the Q-Bank (question bank) 1000+ questions divided into topics.
I bought the classroom/online package of tests, q-bank, instruction, review.
