Annoyed by nursing commerical they keep running

Published

Does anyone still see the nursing commercial that keeps running on TV. At the end it says "you're a nurse you make a difference." I don't why but it annoys me to no end. Enough already!!! Most schools have a year long or more waiting list just to get in. There is no nursing shortage. Anyone else feel the same way??

I've been on the wait list for 3!/2 years and probably have one more year, hopefully when I finish the economy will be better.

i don't think this is the only career they are promoting when they have no business doing so. getting into the military is not so simple as signing on the dotted line either...at least not anymore. it used to be if you need a guaranteed job and good benefits then just join the military and you'll be shipped out in a couple of days. for nearly every branch it's about a 6-9 month wait for boot camp and yet they are still playing commercials on tv. the coast guard isn't even taking anyone because they have soo many ppl in already. so career commercials for careers that seem to not be hiring aren't all that uncommon. i also agree with most ppl though. it's annoying to keep seeing and hearing the same thing all the time. "nursing shortage here. nursing shortage there. that's guaranteed employment. great benefits. good pay." what they don't tell you is you have do 1-4 years of pre-reqs, there is a wait to get to nursing school, then you do 2-4 years in nursing school, and then you sit for an exam, and then wait another 6months-a year searching for employment. i lost count. how many years is that? a lot! on the other hand though, if it's what you really want to do then who cares if it's super competitive or really hard to get certified. people become artists and authors and musicians because they love it. surely not for the money or benefits. even if you are doing it for the money, just do it. don't worry about what's going on everywhere else. do what you have to to get what you want or need...even if what you want or need is steady employment and a nice paycheck.
