i've accepted a position as a charge nurse here. i'm interested in any info or feedback re: staff, patients, conditions etc. thanks!!
Well that stinks.... I am actually a long time member but I couldn't get my old password/log on to work so I created a new account. I have been on the boards for about 3 or 4 years. Guess I will have to post away then to get to that 15. Thank you for helping me with it though, I am one of the computerly challenged folk in the world *grin*
I worked ancora 11-7. Dangerous, dirty,NO support from co-workers. From my experience terrible terrible place to work. Try a county bhs hospital. Same pay and benefits cleaner and more contact.
I would think It'd be difficult for you to comment on what a nurse does since it seems from your previous posts that your not a nurse. What job did you do there?

Hi, Iam.
I'm not really a good source of info about Ancora because I only did a three-shift clinical rotation there (Cedar D is a men-only ward). The only real rumor I've ever heard is that it's a good idea to befriend the support staff. I forget what they're called. Mental health techs, maybe? I remember getting the feeling that they sort of run the show there. Shoot me a PM if you want to hear more about what I heard, but keep in mind that I only spent a total of about 36 hours on site there.
Barely ever even saw a nurse, though, so not sure what you'd have to worry about. It seems like a pretty decent gig with a nice paycheck. I'm thinking about applying for one of their externships for student nurses.
Good luck to you, and congratulations on your NEW NURSE status!
