Hi! I did some nursing school clinicals there for my LPN in '05. It's a big campus, reminded me of a community college setting. We worked in a locked men's ward as well as some lesser secure areas. I mean it's a state hospital but it's not at all scary. Some patients are there against their will so they have court hearings. There is a work program, activities, classes and rec stuff too. The nurses from what I saw passed meds from a secure area. I spent most of my time with the patient population and aides so I didn't get to see much nursing. It's a little far for me, but I would accept a position there. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Wondering if any RN"S are currently employed at ancora....what shifts do you work? Do they offer per diem? Are they still on a hiring freeze?

I have zero personal exp with Ancora, but i am scared of that place due to reading articles about it in the paper over the years. Perhaps it has changed, but the articles were scary. You can probably read some of them if you google.
But, honestly, for the best advice, listen to employees who work there. They'll tell you if its good or not.
