Anatomy Physiology vs. Microbiology

U.S.A. South Carolina

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could give me advice on taking Anatomy and Physiology II or Microbiology in the summer. Those are the only two classes I have left to take. After that I will be able to apply to the nursing program at Greenville Tech. I realize that both classes are going to be challenging but I have to take one of them this summer. So, if anyone out there could give me some advice on which one would be the better class to take in the summer that would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

Both classes are really tough my opinion microbiology is tougher than A&P2. I would say go for a&p2 if you did good in a&p1 I don't feel like you'll have a problem in a&p2 as long as you had a great instructor for anatomy 1 & comprehend & understood it really well vs trying to memorize. It shouldn't be as hard.

Thank you, that helps a lot. For some reason I keep thinking that it would be the other way around. Maybe it's just I've already has the one and I'm hoping that microbiology will be a little easier than the other.

No problem :) it's all bout your studying techniques. Do you to study to memorize or do you study to understand? Understanding is better than memorizing cause you can apply what you know to different scenarios. So yes I'd say go ahead & get anatomy 2 out the way.. Good luck w/ the course! I'm sure you'll do a amazing job!

I would recommend also taking A and P 2 over the summer. Reason being, if you took A&P 1 at your current school, a lot of Universities want A&P2 to be from the same school. Both Microbiology, and AP2 are difficult.

Sometimes hard classes like A&P and Micro becomes easy and enjoyable if you end up taking it with a good professor. I suggest you look at both and compare the professors. There is a website that has ratings of professor everywhere. Good luck!

TAKE A&P II !!!!!

it's more specific to nurses since it's actually the human body where as micro is so in depth you won't really get it or even need that in depth knowledge unless you're planning to be a microbiologist. A&P you can at least make sense of. Micro is horrible.

When I was in the program we had to take both A&P and micro. now at midlands tech at least, I know they don't make nursing students take micro. Which is good. It's pointless haha.

You are exactly right I didn't learn much in micro but as for as anatomy 1&2 you HAVE apply it to patho In order to get it. once you get into the nursing program. This person is exactly right.

Thank you. I would have to say that I did a little bit of both when it came to studying but I mostly tried to memorize a lot of that stuff. I've taken A&P 1 twice. I ended up with a B the second time around. I've learned that the proffesor you have really does matter. The first time I had a Proffesor that was really smart and seemed to ramble on about everything but wasn't the best teacher when it came to the material that we had to learn.

Thats exactly the website I use now when picking my classes!!!
