I am trying to budget out my monthly expenses and I am now spending 20 bucks a month instead of 10 (after 1 year it increases).
I truly have found no use of ANA even with the benefits we are supposed to get.
Only thing I like from them are the daily emails about regional/local news about how nurses are improving care/etc.
I have been with them for 1 1/2 years.... and haven't seen any benefit. What do you think??
Thanks
He's an MD so I think he's referring to the AMA.
Yeah, I hate the AMA. They masquerade as a professional organization dedicated to protecting the profession and representing the interests of physicians.
What they really are is a social advocacy organization that spends our money promoting the legislative agenda of the organization's leaders. They do nothing for us. I have never given them a dime, and never will.

Funny, that is why I loathe the ANA, and TNA. The TNA is an exceptional joke, when I went to their legislative conference last April in Nashville, I was sickened. The anti-male atmosphere that seemed like it may have belonged in a '70s womens power event, the lies, the bad advice; as someone who is involved in politics, I was sickened by thier display very quickly.
Instead of sticking around for their stuff, I left early and spoke to 4 state Reps, and encouraged them to vote AGAINST the TNA. Which is exactly where I stand, against the TNA. I for one will not support such a rotten organization, and will actively oppose them.
No offense, but it makes me really happy to hear that your national organization has sold you out and ripped you off as much as mine has.
We get ripped off here too.
In the UK we have the Royal College of Nursing http://www.rcn.org.uk/membership/categories at £189.67 per year (useless but my choice to pay or not).
Then there is the Nursing and Midwifery Council, or NMC. We have to pay £76 a year http://www.nmc-uk.org/aArticle.aspx?ArticleID=54 just for the privilege of working as a Registered Nurse.
