An upsetting fetal death

Published

Yesterday on our unit we had a young woman come in by ambulance. She stated she was bleeding and 15 weeks pregnant. In getting the rest of the story she had been to an abortion clinic the day before and they "put something in" so she could have an abortion. She panicked with the bleeding which was minimal and came to our Catholic hospital.

Sadly when she delivered a couple hours later she delivered a live approximately 22 week baby. The baby lived for about 1/2 an hour. The woman was hysterical and kept saying they(the abortion clinic) told me it wasn't a baby yet.

It was a very difficult delivery for our staff. I think it was a blessing for this baby that she decided to come to our hospital instead of going back to the abortion clinic. The baby was held and treated with respect. She was given support and information for follow up with our RTS group and other community resources and we helped her with funeral arrangements.

I think this also speaks to the lack of education and insufficient knowledge that many women have when having an abortion.

Here ya go. I am warning you it is extremely graphic and I heard there are pictures involved, though I could not bring myself to look.

The only places that are claiming he ate babies are radical right wing/pro-life sites. So I'll continue to call BS on that, because places like http://www.wdn.com, covenantnews.com, operationrescue.org, ooo, and nicely, amren.com - a white supremecist site.

The rest of the news agencies report that he had a filthy clinic and that's why he got shut down (and rightly so - the pics are of the mess at his clinic)

For the record, I COMPLETELY believe the story about the baby in the freezer. I just read a new article about an abortionist eating the remains (I will gladly post the link if anyone is in doubt), so I would not put what that story states past the population as a whole, especially the population that thinks it's "not a baby". As horrific as it is to the rest of us, those people ARE out there - probably a lot more than we think.

Maybe it's time for a moderator to lock this thread.

Already PM'd it. I second a lockdown.

I apologize for that - I glanced over it and was grossed out and that was it! I don't know what any of those sites are and have never accessed them. This was legitimately emailed to me by a friend of mine who is a nurse who was horrified. It looked like a news column to me (and I am sure him, too!). I do apologize for any upset it may have caused.

Agreed we're due for a close since it's travelled far off course. I think everyone here agrees a woman should be advised of all her choices and be given adequate information on all options when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. One hopes never to see a situation as described by the OP, regardless of the reason.
