Ok, so today I talked to our Clinical Nurse Specialist about the fundal pressure and current guidelines, etc., and she was very emphatic that he should NOT be doing that and it had already been an issue. She encouraged me to write up a QAR, which I did, and brought it to my nurse mgr. Before I even had the doc's name out of my mouth, my NM knew what it was about, and told me that she had already spoken once about it to the Chief of OB. She said thank you for filling out the QAR so that she could bring it to the Chief's attention again and other steps could be taken. She then told me I had done the right thing. I was so glad that it went the way it did, and I felt like I had made a difference! Yay me for advocating for my pt's!!!!!!!! (And yay for the other nurses on my unit for not keeping quiet about it, either!!!!)
