I'm interested in getting my master's online so I can be an NP............I am only aware of Vanderbilt (but they are expensive). I need one that is reasonably priced and accredited and not soem scam.Has anyone done an online MSN program.......are they legit? Thanks !
I am confused, how do people in the online MSN NP programs, find clinical sites on your own. Does the college provide sites. Or do you have to call a local clincal sites...
sounds, like a headache.
so do you have to call a bunch of clinics in my area... ??>> how do look for them, do I just google them and just call randomly...????????
I was wondering if anyone knows of an FNP program that is 100% online that waves the 1 year of experience requirement. I am a new grad that can't get any experience, so I figure I'll work toward an FNP and wait for an RN job to come along. I can't find very many schools that don't have an experience requirement. I'm also looking for something affordable, if possible.
Thanks everyone for the great info!
I am a Paramedic that has decided to look at going to be a FNP. Planning to start the transition to RN soon with EC. Then because of my very remote location look for a FNP program available online. I want to thank all of the posters that have put so much information on here. Many of my questions have been answered here. As time goes by sure I will be asking questions.
Thank you so much jp837 for the infos and the links! I don't have any further questions. I am going to take some pre-reqs for NP at CSUDH and decide what I want next.
I know that this is an old thread, but anyone tell me the prereqs that are required for the direct entry MSN at CSUDH? I am not yet done with my ADN but have a BS in another field, and would possible like to take some of the prereqs now that I have a semester off from school.
Hello guys.
I am currently an RN who is interested in pursuing an advanced nursing degree as an FNP. However I have come across a road block. I am a resident of NY and many programs are not accepting NY state residents. For example I pulled this off the Indiana state university website "
At this time, the New York State Board of Education has not recognized or approved Indiana State University to conduct clinical nursing education with citizens from New York.
Indiana State nursing programs have been submitted for review but it has yet to be determined if the online programs will be considered.
Due to this unfortunate circumstance, the nursing programs at Indiana State University will not be accepting any undergraduate or graduate nursing students from the state of New York for admission into the major."
and this from the University of South Alabama website
New York and Pennsylvania residents only:
We have recently been notified by your state*s Higher Education Board
that all education programs including online programs must have approval
by this board prior to citizens from your state enrolling in a program.
Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to accept your application
for the MSN program here at USA College of Nursing until we obtain
approval to offer our program in your state. We sincerely apologize for
this inconvenience. If you have any questions at all, please do not
hesitate to contact me.
Is anyone else having this problem??? are there any NY state residents currently in an NP program online that can assist me????
I would really appreciate it,
Thanks in advance
Hi raza718m, I'm wondering what you were able to find out about distance MSN/NP programs that could work for you in NY. I'm also in the NY Metro Area, considering this for myself. In addition, I'm concerned about finding a clinical as I'm reading that this can be a big challenge. Looking forward to hearing back from you!

How is Univ of North Dakota going so far? Are you taking 2 classes per semester ? I looked at the website , do you arrange your own clinical? Which semester do clinicals begin?
Any information you can provide would be great.
Thank you.
