I am wanting to relocate to Scotland in a few years. I currently hold a Bachelors in Nuclear Medicine. As I understand it, I can get a highly skilled migrant visa which doesn't require an employer to sponsor me to come over. It doesn't look as though Nuclear Medicine jobs are widely available, so I was considering getting certified as a Paramedic or an Registered Nurse. I've looked for labor statistics and employment outlooks, but I haven't found anything concrete. It merely states that education, social work, and healthcare are growing fields. What would be the most ideal degree to get to increase my chances of having a job when I move? I would prefer to be in the Highlands.
Right now it's super hard to get over there immigration-wise because of NHS cuts and the economy. You have to have at least a year's experience as a RN (with a bachelor's degree, not an ADN) to come over as well...Do you have EU citizenship or are married to someone with it?
