American university of health sciences (Auhs)

U.S.A. California

Hi Everyone,

Please, does anyone know or heard anything about AUHS school of nursing? I'm thinking about applying to their program but still have a little concerns.

firstly: they are not WASC accredited, only ACICS . i dont know whether this will affect the acceptability of their BSN degree by other public universities? they are approved by the California board of registered nursing

secondly: they dont have their CCNE accrediation yet, they have a scheduled site evaluation by the CCNE Oct'11, will having a CCNE accrdt. help with the reputation and acceptance of their BSN degree by other universities, if one decides to pursue an MSN?

thirdly: they are for-profit school, so i dont really know how employers will perceive a BSN from a for-profit school? any bias?

and finally, the cost of the program is like 70-80K for 2.5 years, is the price worth it?

kinda confused :crying2:

thanks:)

The school is accredited by CCNE now

I am a little upset about the fact students who actually went here for years gave no speech and no appreciation in this site; they would rather just take care of their grades and make sure their GPAs are good so that by the time they graduate, they get what they wanted and leave no legacy and no history behind.

If you think American University of Health Sciences is a ****** school, it's really not the school for you. It's YOU.

Now that I've gotten my resentment out of the way, I just wanna use this space as my love letter to AUHS.

I've been here for 2 years and if God allowed, I would have complained a lot to the school like a married woman. Then gradually I would no longer be pretty and graceful, being a mom of my children and being a wife to my husband. I would have been so distracted from my own misery rather than focusing on learning about God and patient care.

The vibe at this school is completely different from all the other campus' I've been to (UCI, UCR, CSUF, UCLA.. yes....UCLA). The staff work there with faith, faith in the school, faith in the teaching, faith in God. There's just a very intimate family-like vibe at this school. AUHS has a very divert but cultural environment-- I can't name a time I've seen a fight or people acting any type of mean to each other. Everyone greets each other by name, holds doors open for each other, professors even go over exams in the office during office hours and etc. Instead, the school offers food drive, free physical exam, and blood drive when they do not seem to have enough staff to do the millions of things others do.

But the biggest and most important thing about AUHS is how it's helped me grow spiritually and intellectually throughout the years. The staff at AUHS is out of this WORLD! The professors here actually value you and your education. And that's all that really matters when it comes to your college education.

TURN AND RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION!!!!! I am currently enrolled at this school. I had a couple of my friends who had sadly left us because of a horrible teacher!!!! My friends that left the school for personal reasons, only said to me that this school doesn't care about you but your money! On the other hand my friends that had left due to failing out had told me that the school, American University of Health Science known for being a Christian School, was far from it they said. They told me that when they tried to get help the Professor told them that if you don't get it by this point of the program you are better off being a CNA! A couple of students were also blamed for cheating so the Professor made one of her finals super hard! Harder than the ATI test!... Let me remind you the NATIONAL Average on an ATI test is roughly 65 percent. The final was at 56 percent failing almost half the class, and the school didn't even lift a finger to help. I figure that since the school, the dean, the president, even the pastor that owns the school, all of them said that they cannot help. The professor is entitled to put what ever she covered during the quarter on to her final. Chuching!!! SHOW ME THE MONAY!!! To sum this all up Auhs promises alot of BS to you when you apply for the program. They say they are working on their accreditation... Yes they are but you don't know that they lost CCNE after getting it. They tell you at the interview that if you are struggling they will re-mediate you or bring in help once you are at 83 percent in the class. Yes they do have a thing called re-mediation once you hit 83 percent, they didn't lie to you about that! But what they did lie to you about is when they tell you that you will have one on one with your instructor, Or they will get a tutor for you, but what it really is you signing a piece of paper. Then the teacher will give you another assignment to tie you down even more and take away your time for studying. During the interview with the dean, did she promise you that you are getting quality education? Did she mention that their class size is small so that you have professors that care about you and that will help? Or that the professor can help you one on one if you happen to struggle? No the professors here don't care about you like they claim. No you don't get one on one teachings! What they do though is play you youtube videos on test taking strategies. They claim to have christian values but all it is about is the MONEY!!! TURN AROUND RUN!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!! YOU CANT EVEN TRANSFER OTHER SCHOOLS DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT CCNE!!!! IT IS WASC THAT OTHER SCHOOLS ARE LOOKING FOR!!! DON'T LET AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCE SCAM YOU WITH THAT PITCH.... WE ARE ACCREDITED WITH CCNE. I forgot to mention that they even had mandatory meetings with the professor just to coach us on what to say when CCNE officials came to the school.. If I knew that other schools don't really give a damn about CCNE I would of blasted the school REP! This is just another example that this school is a SCAM!!!!!

Bogus as HELL!!!!! you haven't seen a fight because the students have each others backs! The fight is with the administration! This school helped you with your faith?... You must of been one lost soul!, because a blind man would even see all the fraud that going on at this school! One of the teachers that quit working here had told me that something isn't right at this school! Something fishy! SO, TELL ME WHAT WOULD YOU THINK HEARING THAT COMING FROM ONE OF YOUR PROFESSORS? SCANDAL!!!! RUN THE OTHER WAY! Oh yeah let me mention to the public, that the school was giving out community service hours for students that went on websites like this or yelp, to write a good review of the school! Let me guess HIBisCUSetc who left this review you got 5 hours? Yeah now all you need is 95 more? Good Job get your money girl!!!!

@ Mary 22, your post is copied and pasted from another website, I just seen at Campus Explorer! the only difference is that you you have a different name on the other site (Kathy C.) Why is that? Please look. Somewhat suspicious.

first, auhs is not scamming. secondly, if you really want to be successful in life youwould do everything for it. so for me, i don't care how much money i am goingto spend for school. it's education. so expect that you will be spending. andeducation will be yours forever. no one could get that from you. that's yoursuccess!. don't think about the money. think about what you are going to beafter 3.5 years. for me, everything will be worth it. i am just being practicaltoo. auhs doesn't have waiting list. so, you could finish your program a lotfaster. i don't want to go to city colleges and wait. it will just waste mytime. at auhs, time will not be wasted. think about going to city colleges, howmany years are you going to wait? instead of waiting you should have justenrolled at auhs and get done with everything. then you will work and will beable to pay off for your loans. i am so happy and contented at auhs. i don'thave any regrets going here. everyone is very approachable and helpful. theyreally want you to be successful. as a whole, it is still up to you want you tobe in the future. if you do well then you will get what you want. so if youdecide to go to auhs, expect that you will be spending your 3.5 years studying.
