American River College fall 2018 hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread for this semester, so I started one. I'm applying now. Taking the TEAS in a couple of weeks and submitting everything right after. It's my first time applying. I am really nervous! I am honestly not gonna get my hopes up because I know people going on their 5th time applying, so that's a little demoralizing. I am considering Sac City and USF Sac campus as well, but I would rather not graduate with a ton of debt from a private school.

How is everybody doing?

Mine just updated and they said I needed prior approval for some of my classes which I figured would happen. My transcripts I sent in January still haven't been evaluated and I couldn't get a counseling appt in time since I am in another state. Oh well, hopefully chamberlain accepts me or ill try again next year. SCC said they would talk about it but may be okay accepting my classes if they had seen them previously and be approved so there is still a chance there.

Did your status change for SCC already?

No, I read on their website it won't unless you get into the program.

My ARC status finally updated to qualified this afternoon

Is anyone's status changed to qualified in SCC? Mine is not.

Scc will not change status unless youre accepted, unlike arc

I am waiting on Sac State actually. The cut off was 80 points and I applied with 80 points, but not sure if I got a seat until they send the announcement on Friday. If I didn't get the seat at Sac State, I will take the seat at Sierra since I live in Orangevale. I wish everyone luck with American River and SCC!!

it's so frustrating that they won't email you if you didn't get in... They should send one more mass email and put us out of our misery instead of being hopeful that we may still get an email. My friend last semester kept checking her email for like a week until they announced that they were done.

I believe it says on the application or website that they only contact those that got accepted. It is hard to remember who does what when you are applying to 5 different schools, but I remember reading that.

Does ARC send out denial letters? Anyone know if SCC does also?

Yes ARC sends out letters to those who did not get in as well as those who did.

I know it's frustrating. I also didn't get an email and Sierra was the school I was hoping to get into the most. I'm still checking my email once an hour, even though I know it's in vain. Still could happen for us from ARC or SCC though! Don't lose hope!
