Nursing Students School Programs

Anyone who is applying to the Spring 2015 ADN program at ARC care to share info with one another? Thanks and good luck to everyone!

That's actually a good thing, even if you're not selected this time. It makes applying again in the future much easier because you have been found to be qualified and meet entry requirements. All that's holding you back, so to speak, is the selection process itself. Once you're "qualified" you're on basically equal footing as everyone else that has applied, and if they're adding additional "weight" or "consideration" for number of times, equal to those as well.

Hopefully that makes sense.

The "weight" for times applied has been removed, from what I understand. And applicants that are qualified are not necessarily ever going to get selected if they do not meet the point cutoff- per the new system. The new system says that it randomly selects from the top 1/3, which by definition is 67pts or higher, but this is not actually the case. The last several applicants selection statistics reflect that only those qualified applicants with 70+ points make it to the pool. The qualified returning applicant makes it a breeze to reapply though. How many times did you apply before you got in> Did you graduate ARC? What was your experience like going through the application process? How intense did you feel the program was?

Nope no news yet I'm guessing they'll send out rejection letters or more acceptance letters after the 10th

:(

I'm really not looking forward to another rejection letter.

67 is not the point cut off. They accept all applications, find the point values, and take the top 30%. This means that if the top 30% of applicants all had a 75, the new cut off point amount would be 75. I don't think it has ever been higher than 70 though. You can see what it has been for the past several semesters by looking at the statistics somewhere on the nursing page.

This is killing me!! I want a spot so bad! I would be so happy to get in or get an alternate spot. At this point, if you go by others past experience, then all spots have already been given away. I am praying that the system has changed and there are still spots availabe for some of us! I'm not getting any younger. :)

Hey! I looked online and got my acceptance for spring of 2015 for ARC!!

Where did you check losrios?

Yes, The letter in my gmail was there since October 31, but my status on eservices didn't change until today.

Oh okay

Well is seems like everybody that got accepted has gotten the emails so Congratulations!! I did not get an email either :/

It's not an email! You have to go to the old email you got in September asking you to submit your packet. Click on the link that they give you in that email to check your status then enter your sdjcstatus and status for username and password and then it asks you for your student if without the dashes and your birthdate and application year then it will show you your application and there's a link on the top right that says application qualification decision or something like that click on that and it will say if you were accepted, an alternate, or not accepted.

I know they've been updating their process for entry to their program and that they were/are phasing out the additional weight for reapplicants.

In my particular case, I was competing against about 1,000 other qualified applicants and was ultimately selected for both programs that I could apply to. I ultimately went through SCC's program and I felt that my program was quite intense. The unit load at SCC is a little higher, at 12 units vs 10.5 units per semester/course. I had a classmate that went to ARC's program and then SCC's and while things are a little different between the two programs, both are pretty good.

Both programs that I applied to used the older "weighted" criteria and I just checked my "stats" against the new multi-criteria process they use and I would have been in the top 1/3 since implementation began. I probably would have started a LOT sooner had this been in place at the time as I would have been among a much smaller group of applicants that were granted entry to the selection pool.

What do you mean that it's not an email? I check my correspondence through gmail through losrios, and the application status through eservices. I looked through my old messages and didn't see any links embedded whatsoever. My current status through eservices says application qualified, but nothing else has changed as of yet. I haven't received anything else via email thus far, but I receive the rejection letter via email every time I have applied so far.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Is this your first time applying to ARC's program? Have you applied anywhere else?
