American citizen going to foreign nursing school

Hi, I was just wondering. I recently saw the post describing how foriegn nurses will have incraesingly more trouble getting working permits (esp. from the phillipines.) My question is, I am a US citizen and I was interested in going to foreign nursing school as a ways to lower my costs and to travel and see the world. Can anyone tell me if I will haeva problem getting licensed in the US after I graduate- what are the procedures? any info would help. Also, any reccomendations for specific schools that teach in english, low cost. Can anyone tell me their experience with this.

I would image that your training would have to match something similar to the US requirement which I think is 4 years or degree. You would have to go through CGFNS to get your training verified and then apply to the state BON to sit the NCLEX. This is just my opinion on what I have seen. I would suggest a read in the International forum as look at what has been said previously

Don't count on it being less expensive. Canada charges higher tuition fees for non-resident students, plus they have wait lists at a lot of schools.

Best try e-mailing some schools and finding out their fees.

why don't you go through an america school and do travel abroad? they have it for nursing students. if you're wanting to do the travel thing. i know nursing students who have done a semester at england, scotland, australia... i doubt that traveling would cut your costs though. and then you'd have to make sure that it was accredited correctly ect ect... go to an american NLNAC accredited school!
