Went to AR BOLC in Nov 10, graduated Dec 10 and thought I was going to be in your class for my third time around going to an Army basic course!!! Got an RFO for the July BOLC, but I had to email them and ask them if they were seriously going to send me through basic AGAIN just because I was switching from Reserves to Active and thankfully got an email back stating no they weren't!! So, good luck!! It would've been nice to meet one of our allnurses peeps!!!

I'm going to BOLC on July...

Ill be there with bells on.

I am at BOLC now, and I have one big piece of advice: if you are not a PT superhero, please start working on your sit-ups, push-ups and two-mile run now, before you arrive at BOLC. You will have a diagnostic PT test within the first three days of arriving, and your first record PT test will be two weeks later. You do NOT want a PT failure to hinder you! Trust me. I failed the first record PT test, and it was not fun to have that hanging over my head. I passed the second one this past Friday, thankfully. They are going to have one more in two weeks, and people who fail that one will not graduate, and may be held over here at Ft. Sam until they pass, and will possibly lose their assignments. These ramifications are new -- they used to let people move on without a pass, but no longer. You might all be PT studs, so I am probably preaching to the choir ... but just in case. ;) They added this last PT test out of the goodness of their hearts -- it wasn't originally scheduled.

Some of the people here have said their recruiters told them not to worry about PT tests, that they'd whip them into shape here ... not entirely true! Some people at BOLC might have a larger gap between failing and passing than can be overcome in a few short weeks.

Good luck, everyone! :)

I heard that this group has had the hardest pt (every day) than previous groups. I am decent shape but i need work on run. I am starting to run/jog/walk every morning for 30 min regardless how far I go. In 2 months should help.

This is true ... we have been doing PT pretty much every weekday.

I went through ROTC so I've been having to stay in shape to pass PT tests for years now! I'm definitely good on the PT. Thank God! I know that can be a stressor for some. Are there any other tips you can provide for us Lunah??

I have a blog here on allnurses that I've been doing ... https://allnurses.com/nursing-blogs/?prefixid=blog_lunahrn

The thing I would emphasize for you most right now is hydration. Make sure you have a Camelback for the field. We had a few heat injuries during the first week, and this is only April! Granted, it was about 100 degrees and very humid, and we were out in the sun all day on the firing range with limited shade. But hydration is SO IMPORTANT. Take it very, very seriously because you do not want to get recycled.

At the very end of my BOLC blogging, I think I'll make a list of "100 things I wish I knew before I went to BOLC." :D
