Am I in violation of code of ethics?

Published

So I work at an adult day care and it's not really like a normal nursing job. I'm with the same ppl 8hrs a day 5 days a week so I've grown very close to my members. They're like family to me. I've taken some of my members to bingo outside of work, invited one of my members over for thanksgiving because he has no family and I've purchased clothes for some of my members with my own money bc they can't afford new clothes. A lot of the members are very low income and they Can't afford new clothes. One lady was even being beat up by her husband and he kicked her out...she had no where to go so I let her stay with me for the weekend til she figured it out. Am I in violation of something here? I know I probably am but that really bothers me because I'm in no way exploiting or taking advantage of any of the members I do all I can to help them. Could I get in trouble for any of this? I'm just really worried when state does their compliance check that they may find out about some of these things and I could get my licensed taken or suspended. Where so I go from here?

I did post a few hours ago that I get the point and thanks for the advice.

It's not just the point you have to deal with, it's everyone's opinion.

You posted on a public forum where everyone can post & this post is still available.

So how do I make it unavailable?

Ok well I'm not a scammer so don't try to throw me in that category. A scammer takes things from people, which I have not done.

I have to wonder if you aren't pulling our collective leg... April Fools' and all :)

No one has accused you of being a scammer. You were simply being provided an answer as to what kind of trouble your actions might get you into.

Scammers exist and they will seldom willingly admit to any criminal acts when accused. So they respond exactly the same way as an innocent party would when confronted with the questions or accusations. They deny the charges and swear that they're innocenct. It's not easy for a third party (like for example the BoN) to judge who's being truthful and who's not. The point people are making is that your actions leave you extremely vulnerable to these accusations, even if they were complete fabrications. I think the advice you've been given is intended to be helpful. The aim is to make you protect yourself better than you currently seem to be doing.

You can't. It's a public forum.

So how do I make it unavailable?

You can contact the site administrators and ask that the thread be closed, and removed from view.

I believe that you meant well and will make better-informed decisions (work-wise) going forward. I can understand feeling attacked by so many people posting the same stuff over and over. Best wishes!

Ok bye Felicia

Ok bye Felicia

Well doesn't that say a lot.

elkpark, thank you!! :) I will definitely be making better decisions moving forward and I will probably never post on this site again. Some of the people who replied had very valid points but came across very rudely and condescending. I never asked for opinions about how I lack common sense, etc. I obviously asked the question for a reason. Some of you I see post on here day in and day out, maybe you should find something better to do with your time than criticize people. Get a life. elkpark this reply was in no way addressed to you.

It's the internet, you can't control how people respond to your post. Some people's posts are more blunt than other's, that's just how they are. Don't take random internet stranger's comments to heart.

As someone who can be emotional herself, you need to disconnect the emotions when chatting with random people on the internet. Who cares what we think. You got our opinions, change what you do & move on. As long as you protect your license, that is all that matters.

I don't take it to heart it's just annoying. No one is perfect and no one knows everything. I see that some people having nothing better to do with their time than spend hours and hours on this site. Geez.

Well apparently you do & I'm a stay at home mom so there's me. No one is claiming to be perfect.

And it's occupying head space, so it is bothering you.

It's bothering me that I could get in trouble for the things I've done
