I had a mind fart today while having two surveyors follow my med pass. I totally forgot to ask residents to state their name before administration. They have a picture in their mar but that's all. I know them so well I just didn't even think. I assume this is a tag? I have never been through a survey before. Only been a nurse for two months. Help😞

So what did they say?
Nothing at all. Said I had "good technique" and left to watch others. I realized hours later that I totally forgot to ID.

I do this all the time! I have such few patients at one time and I know them all and they know me so I never identify it's so bad... but let's be honest, unless they have an identical twin that snuck in their place, were giving the meds to the right person lol....
If your supervisor hasn't said anything about the issue then you shouldn't be worried. I had worked a day when there were surveyors , in the bld and i basically acted normal and did everything as I always did. I am a new nurse too. When I started my first nursing job, I decided to do everything the right way cuz I bet ppl look and act strangely if all of a sudden they want to do things the right way. I didnt heard any issues from the surveyors, but I think as a new nurse it definitely is a scary thing to make sure your not dining things wrong.

Your argument would be that having a distraction during a med pass is unsafe in the first place. Knowing two surveyors are watching is uncomfortable and a definite distraction.

I would think that by now, the surveyors have finished. Was there anything about this in their report? That would be something to find out.
