Do everything you can to secure a job. Do anything and EVERYTHING. Don't worry...New Grad Nurses are considered lower and far less useful than urinals.
Being a CNA is not shameful by any means...you will come to LOVE them and rely upon them. Plus I wouldn't plan on failing the NCLEX...if you think you may fail then you need to push back the test date and study more. I knew 110% that I was going to rock the hell out of the NCLEX...or I was going to die trying lol.
Take any job or opportunity you can find...it is VERY hard to find Nursing jobs right now, even experienced Nurses are having a hard time let alone a new grad.
I agree with Bug Out...start looking for jobs, like yesterday! Since you waited you are not only competing with May grads but also us August grads..also some internship positions are only available for GN's who graduated within 6 months. Fall internships are mostly filled, the next big time internships will start is January, and by then it will be longer than 6 months since you graduated. I see your rationale and I don't think it's stupid but in this economy I would advise not waiting to secure a job. Good luck!!

Hi everyone, I am a new grad who graduated in May. I am still waiting for my ATT from the state, but i was wondering, am i not making a smart move by not looking for a job until i pass NCLEX?? My mother asked me why I was waiting, and I told her that if i had gotten an intern job and then I take state boards and fail, they then drop you from the intern program and demote you to a CNA until you pass. If that were to happen to me, I think that would be the most humiliating thing and would have a great impact on my already fragil self esteem as a new grad. My mom then said, "well, basicly you are letting your pride get in the way of you making good money while you wait to take boards?" My reply to her was "YES". :banghead:Any thoughts?????
