Am I qualified for an ABSN or direct entry MSN program?

Published

Do you think I'll get into a program with what I have below:

-graduated with BS (double majored in human biology and psychology with a minor in neuroscience) GPA: 3.3

-over 4,000 hours experience as volunteer EMT-basic over the course of 4 years (leadership: lieutenant, crew chief, crew chief trainer, ambulance driver (and trainer), also created a continuing medical education program for my squad and ran our EMT class

-PCA in pediatric intensive care unit for 1 year

-neurosurgery research assistant with 10+ publications

-1 week experience shadowing doctors in Toledo, Spain

Please give any advice you can! Thank you!

The only thing on there that matters is your bachelors and your GPA.

You may be "qualified" for anything, but schools have different requirements. Contact the school you plan to apply to then see what happens. Why would shadowing a doctor for a week have anything to do with being an RN?

Go to the website of the school you want to attend and look at the requirements to apply for the programs. Then apply if you meet those requirements. Even with a bachelors degree you have to have all pre reqs and a 3.3 is on the lower end. Most schools require a minimum to apply of either 3.0 or 3.2 on first degree (no matter what major). Forget worrying about "do you think" and start doing research on what you need to do to accomplish your goals. Talk to schools. Look at the re reqs. Get As on your pre reqs. In the medical profession GRADES MATTER. Th acceptance rates at many schools between 3.2 and 3.5 are huge.
