Hello everyone,
I'm a guy and sometimes I feel that I'm in the wrong profession as a nurse. Don't get me wrong. I like nursing and I love being an RN. I just feel this way at times. For male nurses: Do you feel the same way? To female nurses: How do you feel working alongside male nurses?

If you like nursing you're in the right profession. The only time I felt resentment or outright discrimination from females about being a man in nursing was from a couple of dinosaur nursing school professors; I'm pretty sure they're dead now and I'm not...yet.
The only other times I've felt I've been identified as a "male" in nursing is when there is a heavy lift, or if someone needed to be restrained, I would be sought out by some female staff; that's OK though because I've requested assistance in other areas of nursing when I could use "female" help. It all works out.
Plus...if men were not supposed to be in nursing, we wouldn't have our own action figure...

*A-HEM!*
If you like nursing and love being an RN, just enjoy the ride, DjorRN man!
Otherwise, you're going to start to sound and act like some sort of old burnt out chronic malcontent male nurse who complains of dead professors, identifies with Indiana Jones or Dr. Johnny Fever, and plays with action figures.
Don't go there, DjorRN man!

Hey..... that's me!
I always thought of myself as well balanced and adjusted with an appreciation of the past. ??

Most of my Life I worked with a male dominated work place (military, car detailing, furniture delivery) and now I started working in a female one.
I like working in the female one better. Why? Because most dumb alpha men will always try to prove they are better than you in some way and it gets annoying to me & they wanna fight (I consider myself an alpha too, but I dont go proving it, I am humble).
In the female one I can just sit back and enjoy listening to all the women's drama and *** talking to each other. In the male one I got some "alpha" trying to *** talk me. Pick your poison lol

working with the male nurses for the most part is better. the females tend to vent a lot, and i mean a lot! i always hear it when i go into the break room, meds room, corner of a hallway, pretty much everywhere...i hear it from the male too, but not that often ?
