Am I Crazy?????

You will have your hands full I can say that much, alot of the nursing pre req's like anatomy and physiology and even sometimes micro will take alot of time and dedication because they are very difficult courses. My advice would get the easier ones out of the way in the 6 classes you were referring to like english, probably a few electives in there too like soc and psych and if an anatomy class is offered in the summer take that and only that because in my opinion it will be difficult to fit that class alone in with 5 others. I'm going part time and I am taking anatomy along with just one other easy A elective and I did it purposely like that so I can concentrate soley on anatomy. Right now I am in anatomy II and last semester I did the same thing I took anatomy I with an easy A elective and I ended up getting an A in anatomy and i'm doing the same thing this semester. From what i have heard and don't quote me but some nursing students i have talked to said that after anatomy and micro the nursing classes are much easier. Hope this helps :monkeydance:

Yes, I think it's true that if you've a strong background in A&P I+II, your life will be much easier in nursing school b/c patho, pharm, meg/surg, maternity, and pediatric are all build from your prior knowledge of A&P. Afterall, you need to know the normal vs. abnormal function of the human body.

It depends which school your going too. I'm applying to LIU. I need 8 prereqs. However, I'm taking 5 (Che, Micro)this spring and the other 3 courses I'm going to take the CLEP test. Then that way I don't have to take classes in the summer. Wheeeeeew! Because I suppose to start the EMS FDNY Academy in July. I would check out schools like LIU so it will be a little less demanding on you.

Thanks guys for all your help. I already took A&P Ilast semester along with 3 other classes being that im a full time student. I worked hard and it paid off I got an A in A&P and my avg overall was good (3.8).

This spring semester im taking A&P II, speech, contemp. moral issues, sociology, and history

So in the summer i would need to take micro, chem pt 2, english 2x, history. Is it possible???

Oh and this is all for LIU bklyn campus.

I took AP I & II and Micro last summer and got A's, but it's a lot of work. Personally, I'd match up the micro and chemistry in Summer A and the english and history in Summer B. But's thats just me, it's hard for me to go from concrete science to writing papers for english and history. These are fast paced courses. You only get around 6 weeks per course, and they leave nothing out. You have to be dedicated to studying all week after classes and on the weekends. There is a test or two every week. Check out the ratemyprofessor.com. A good instructor is key to doing these summer courses. I'd also start reading your books now and try to get the syllabus ahead of time. Find the current spring schedule at your school and hang out by the class and ask a current student if you can copy their current syllabus.
