Am I competitive at GTCC and forsyth tech?

Don't apply blindly or get advice from this site. Call the schools you are interested in! If possible, meet with an academic advisor and have your transcripts evaluated. The can't give you a definite answer because they won't know the qualifications of the other applicant you'll be competing against when you apply. But they are usually able to tell you that last year the lowest TEAS score they accepted was xxxx.

Contacting the nursing school is a great way for them to get to know you and for you to learn if you have a chance before spending $100+ on the application. Plus if you're a borderline candidate the advisor can recommend additional things you can do to improve your odds. Good luck.

Thanks for the 1st post I've ever had, lol. I'm new on this site. I just want to know what other people's points are. Im not applying blindly, I have been reading the admission requirements every day BC I'm so nervous. I'm just afraid of not getting in BC of the high level of competitiveness. On Monday I will be going in for a MAR review and scheduling my teas at forsyth tech. I've already met with the GTCC nursing advisors and they said I should be good based on last years points. I'd appreciate any points posted!

"Blindly" was probably too harsh. What I meant was that some people just look at the school's minimum reqirements, but they never contact the school staff to see what qualification students who've actually been accepted have.

By contacting my school in advance I learned that I didn't have to take an advanced Chemistry class (even though it was posted on their website) and the admin assistant who answers the phone told me about a great new scholarship that hadn't been made public yet. I think too that if you are equally qualified with another applicant and you have made the effort to contact them, it can't hurt.

Try not to stress about the competition. I was freaking out because I thought I was getting a B in my last prereq. When I called the nursing school advisor to ask if that would diminish my chances, she laughed. She said that while school is competetive, it's not THAT competetive. I'm sure you'll do great. I have a friend who is currently at GTCC, I believe she is in the LPN program, but I do not know much about the school itself. :) If not you can always apply at UNCG, I'm currently a pre-nursing student there and their admissions are based off of GPA only. No teas test score, only GPA. Since the adviser hinted that you would be in a good position based on last years points, then I would try not to stress it and just believe that you will get in :)

I was actually at UNCG several years ago but left because of the extreme competitiveness of their Nursing program. I do not have all the pre-reqs there, but I have all of them completed at GTCC (except A&P 2 which I am taking now). Thanks for the advice. I'm always stressing!!!

Yeah UNCG is so crazy, because everyone you meet is a pre-nursing student, but I will stick with it. Only one more semester in the fall and then I will apply. :) plus the anatomy and other bio classes are so hard that it weeds out the ones who truely do not care about studies.

Good luck to you!! That is true! Anatomy and physiology weeds out a TON of people, so I guess after that point there won't be as many pre-nursing atudents.

Idk if anyone cares to read this, but I scored a 84% on the teas v today. I have 162 points to forsyth tech. Will someone clue me in on what point ranges they usually accept?
