Am I competitive applicant?

Specialties CNM

Hello!

I am finishing up my application for Frontier's next class for nurse midwifery. Frontier is very competitive, so I'm nervous. I also plan to apply to Bethel's midwifery program.

-My undergraduate GPA for my BSN is 3.5. My graduate GPA is 3.8. I tried to do better in my BSN program, but as a parent that went through a divorce during the program while working part-time, I could only do so much! I was pretty young, too.

-L&D nurse for 3.5 years

-OB/GYN clinic nurse. There are MD's, DO's, and CNM's in the office

-I have extra responsibilities at my current job, and I plan to become a lactation champion. Hopefully I will get my CLC this next year.

-I don't currently volunteer, unfortunately.

What else can I do to become a good applicant if I don't get in first round? I appreciate all the help! I really want to get accepted.

Happy Holidays!

OK! I haven't gotten it yet??

Hey guys I'm applying to the fall class. I had a 2.88 GPA for my ADN but a 3.88 for my bachelor's. Do you guys know which one they look at? I know there's been some discrepancy on here before about it.

They look at your overall nursing GPA so I would think its going to be an average from both the 2.88 and 3.88 since they both fall under nursing courses for your BSN.

Yes, I believe it is a holistic process. Good luck with your application!

So I spoke with an admissions counselor today. She said they look at the grade on your highest degree in nursing only. This means they will look at my bachelor's. They said they don't care if my ADN is below three as long as my BSN is above three.

Oh okay well that's great news for you!  Are you just applying to Bethel or other Universities as well?

Bethel had called me a few weeks ago to ask if I had any additional questions and if I understood what I needed to submit after I graduated. They also reminded of the two different interview dates and when I should be on the look out for a call to set up an interview with them.
