Alternate@CSULB

Published

Hi you guys. I just checked the list and found out that I am selected as an alternate for Spring 2009@CSU Long Beach. Im really nervous about getting in tho. I am happy that I got put in the alternate list but I dont know if I will be able to be in the program. Right now it would help to have some reassurance, but any info or experiences, would be helpful to me right now.

Ive heard that I still have a good shot, because #25 on the waitlist was able to get in during the Fall 08 semester, so my friend says.

Ive also heard that people applied to other colleges as well so they declined their CSULB acceptance letter. Again, I do not know if that is true or not.

ALSO...I heard that they were only accepting CSULB applicants this semester...AGAIN, i cant confirm this

someone please help me...im going crazy here

thank you,

Pat

I was accepted spring 08 and my bf was accepted fall 08 so I have some experience I guess.

No idea as we both were not alternates. My first semester; however, they were calling in alternates up to midway through the first day of school. So if you havent been selected you still have a chance.

People can and do do that, but there is no way to know how many or predict that.

I dont know for sure, but highly doubt that, otherwise you would not have become an alternate if you arent from CSULB.

To quell your fears, I think you should go to CSULB.edu/nursing and comb through the information here.

You can also call this number (562) 985-4463 to ask questions of the nursing office.

Good luck.

I was accepted to CSULB's Spring 09 program, but I am going to give up my spot as CSULB was not my first choice and I have gotten into Humbolt state also. I am still waiting to hear from 6 other schools but 1 spot has been opened at CSULB! Good luck to you!

I am #25 on Humboldt's Alternate list, thats funny. Just a Question - will you be accepting your spot at Humboldt? I heard they actually go through quite a bit of Alternates usually, so im kinda hopeful.

It really depends. I still havent heard from Sac State or Chico state and those were my first and second choice. So if I get into one of these two schools I will not be going to Humboldt. But if I dont get into one of these then I will most likely go there.

the reason you may have heard that they are only selecting CSULB students this spring is because the university is not accepting transfer students during spring due to the budget cuts. This is what they told me when I visited the school in summer. I am not positive but I think they make an acception for impacted programs such as nursing. Otherwise it would say somewhere that they were only accepting CSULB students, and I've looked, and it does not.

Do you know what number you are on the wait list?

Congratulations on your acceptances! That is awesome :yeah:, I applied to Sac and Chico as well, but i highly doubt i will get in either one - but praying on Humboldt! This is my first time applying, so im trying not to get too down on myself. Good luck to you for Sac and Chico, sounds like you have a great chance at getting in!

I also got in to the nursing program at CSULB and will not be attending this spring. So that is another spot that will be available for an alternate. Good luck.

where else did you apply calinurse? Did you apply to sac state or chico state? I applied to these and am patiently waiting to hear from them! Well good luck and happy turkey day.

I did not apply to any other cal state schools. The reason that I am not going to CSULB is because the chemistry class that I took did not meet their requirement and I couldn't find another one to take in the Fall semester.

I applied to Hopkins and am hoping that I get in there. Otherwise, I will be taking another chem class and applying to CSULB and maybe some other cal state schools for fall semester.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I am trying today to be thankful for all the opportunities that I do have and not stress so much about nursing school...at least for today. :)

Just curious if you ended up getting in, in the spring? What # were you on the waitlist?

Thanks!

i ended up being #10 on the waitlist =/

but i applied again and i got in for fall!
